Excellent, amazingly distinctive style of wine. 13% alc. Has aged well as always and would age longer still. Colour: viscose lemon with green tinges Bouquet: honeysuckle, lemon, ginger and spice Palate: as bouquet plus some stone fruit, rich and slightly sweet, but finishing dry, with cleansing acid and long finish. A bit like a riesling. December 2020

Still drinking well, a good 10 years left in this vintage. Mid-golden colour, lighter than other vintage Marsanne on the nose, clean and fresh on the palate. Very easy drinking.

Not a huge amount to add to my previous tasting note, other than to say the acidity is now less pronounced and I wonder how much longer it can hold. It's still a fascinating wine today and has held up much better than most of the N Rhone whites that I've tried withexetnsive bottle age.

Interesting flavours of lemon/lime, honey, passionfruit, toast, smoky raspberry, and peach. Lots going on.
Impressive length for a cheap wine. Waxy and pillowy mouthfeel, and a lovely integrated acid holds it all in line.
Opinion: So much better than the last bottle; hard to believe they are the same wine bottled under screwcap. Rather smashable. One bottle isn’t enough. No rush. Drink over next 5 years.

Screwcap, 13.5% alc. Bright lemon yellow with some lime hues.
Toast, honey, honeysuckle, lemon, and a faint apple aroma. Dry and toasty in the mouth; comes across a bit oaked even though it’s not. Firm acidity.
Opinion: That firm acid is possibly going to overpower the remaining fruit with further ageing, especially as the wine is more about toast and honey than fruit right now. Past peak? Drink now.

Golden green colour with good, viscous legs. Nose reminds me of aged Riesling, with that petrolly tone, but something floral too. Very interesting on the palate, there's something akin to an aged Riesling but also white stone fruit and perhaps honeysuckle. Probably not everyone's taste but I really like this. Good length. There's such good acidity to this, I can see it continuing to develop for a few years yet.

Evolving exactly the way a tahbilk mars Anne should (taking screwcap into account) The colour has deepened and it's a bright golden yellow. The honeysuckle is starting to show its face, very good acidity and a beautiful mouthfilling wine with a long finish. Very good, but you need to like aged Marsanne to appreciate it

Aromas of lime with a chalky note underneath. The palate has softened out a lot from the last bottle, there's a lovely mouthfeel but it's maybe lost a touch of acidity. There's a lovely savoury feel through the palate with a long pithy lime zest finish. Very nice.

Screwcap, 13.5% alc. Pale and transparent yellow, thickening in centre. Lemon, apple, peach and honey. Hints of passionfruit in the background. Intriguing nose. Flavour as per the nose, but with aromatics amplified. Thick and relatively viscous texture, and decent length for a $10 white. Acid keeps everything in line.
Opinion: Good VFM. Looking youngish; has a while to go until fully mature Hasn’t started to develop overt honeysuckle yet but should with further aging. Leave for another 2-3- years then drink over the following 5 years.

Lots of interest here. Some honey and kero coming through but wonderfully offset with lemon and spicy minerals and acid. Decent tangy length. Essentially the primary notes keep this interesting, not the secondary, and I'm not sure there is a lot of point keeping for much longer.

Lemon-straw in colour and relatively bright. The nose shows some development with the lemon battling against a slightly creosote-like savoury aroma. Swirling however releases more rounded fruit (fresh peach/apricot). On the palate, the lemon is supported by honey and oatmeal.
Yes there is complexity, but I'm finding this a little clumsy tonight.

Still pouring a bright yellow green. Great aromatics of roasted almonds, white fruit and spice. Very good acidity with a steely character that is backed up by an oily richness and ripe, spicy fruit. A very very well made wine.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Mid-yellow. Aging nose of beeswax, lanolin, grapefruit and even oak (despite there being none!). Palate is quite full-bodied, almost greasy-textured, although doesn't lack for acid. Good presence on the front and mid-palate, even extending to the back of the tongue. Not a terribly long finish; the white-fleshed fruit flavours still have some youth about them, and the wine will live for a while. I see I drank this 6 weeks ago - this was therefore opened by mistake...

Pale green with a chalky, mineral heavy, juicy lime nose. The palate is lovely, quite full and creamy, almost reminds me of a rich key lime pie, just not so sweet, with a nice toasted oats flavour on the finish. Excellent. I'll keep the other two bottles for a few more years yet.

{screwcap, 13.5%, A$11} Mid-yellow, with plenty of green still visible. Developing nose, quite intense, of smoke, oyster-shells, lanolin and lemon-curd. Really very attractive. The palate has plenty of freshness, and doesn't lack for acid, but remains quite thickly-textured and full of flavour, along the lines the nose promised. There's almost a touch of grape-skin tannins, no oak of course, and pretty decent coverage of the palate; the wine is all round the front and sides of the tongue, but slightly less in the middle and rather less at the back. Medium-length finish none-the-less; this is only part-way down the developmental path, and could easily be left for another 5 years to reassess. Good effort overall, and worth keeping.

Lemon-straw colour with good brightness. Slightly reserved nose of lemon, herb, honey and oatmeal, with swirling releasing more vibrant sherbety lemon.
Quite light on the palate (in a positive way) with just a little textural oiliness kept perfectly in check by balancing acidity. Not much complexity though, with lemon the dominant flavour, with a little honey/nut in support. There's also some persistent butter that emerges on the finish after the other elements dissipate.
All things considered, this feels like it has a good few years improvement left in it and could last another decade.

Wine Geek's BBQ @ Jillian and Leonard's (Mount Faber Lodge, Singapore): Another little oddity - Marsanne from the very African sounding Nagambie Lakes in Victoria, Australia. A little OTT at first, but it did settles down into a rather nice wine. Sweet nose, alcohol and heavy yellow fruit. Palate was really crisp though - grass, capsicum and mineral moving into an okay finish. The crispness made this go pretty well with the food. I would like to evaluate this at a more conducive setting to be fair to the wine, but it was pretty interesting. Good with the spices we used in the food.
