Popped and poured, and absolutely devoured it. Hitting amazingly well now. Impeccably stored bottle, and it just goes to show how much difference it makes, for this exceptional showing in an off-year bottle.

Really smooth and tannins all resolved, mature wine with lots of secondary and tertiary notes of leather, under bush and old wood. Drink up as this probably won't get better.

Drank this at the same meal as the 1989 La Conseillante and sadly did not decant long enough prior to the meal, after two hours, this was singing. Still not the 1989, but much more enjoyable than after a 30 minute decant.

fully mature, medium bodied, with a bouquet that easily shows of its floral character, and bright red fruits. Missing the feminine qualities found in the best years, there is still a nice, earthy, plummy, mocha character on the palate. This meant for current consumption, as further aging will not add to the wine.

A good bottle that got better as we drank it. Off vintage but a great winemaker came through. Bought at $80 and would buy more at $80. Deep silky Bordeaux at its prime. A hint of some kind of funk that blew off after 45 minutes. If I had more I'd drink them now.

Needed a little air to show off its aromatics. Had a nice black olive note to it. Dark currant, with sweet tobacco, and lots of mineral into a lingering black licorice finish. Definitely ready to drink up.

Q4 - 2016 Tasting - Anything Goes Theme (New York, NY): #1 of 22 wines tasted double blind. Color has significant browning, the nose smells older but not funky. On the palate this is all about the leather, cigar box and earth. Definitely old world and aged - my guess was older Bordeaux. Really enjoyable, would have liked to sit with a glass over the course of an evening - but there were 21 more wines to try. This was second quartile in my personal ranking and also for the group overall with 5 pennies voted.

Q4 2016 Wine Club (The Apt): Wine #1: Drank as part of a quarterly wine club. One of ours but honestly I didn't guess it at all. Get lots of cranberry and dried fruit and some leather and just a generally well put together wine. This was generally well-liked by the group (my included - it got one of my votes). (5 pennies)

A rematch for this 1994 vintage, following last bottle (31/05/16) which disappointed. Now also pop and pour, however I served the wine a bit more "chilled" then room temperature. Outcome - this was a great idea, as the wine had time to adjust in the glass and expose full potential.
+ Nose - typical Pomerol, some light buttery hints, very herbal, very spicy, very nice ! + Flavour - tannins perfectly integrated, very smooth, again spices, herbs, I like it + Finish - goes around smooth in mouth, finishes quite strong for the vintage.
Glad this bottle lived up to my and the guest expectations - two more to go, no rush. For a right bank 1994, this wine is still going strong, some age showing, but not much. Drink or keep is up to you, for me its still within an accepted drinking window. It will not improve by further cellaring, but looks like it won't go downhill fast.

A wine of no age. Surely not young, but far from being too old. Very smooth and round and complete. Not extremely complex, but simply compelling and intense. Still years ahead ( starting from the 1994 vintage, I store my wines in a wine refrigerator, and it seems that this type of storage makes them age perfectly - without loosing the fruit.) This wine is just fun, no dry tannins left, not fading, just perfect.

Deep purple color, tight nose of blue aged fruits, nicely preserved for the vintage, although a good vintage on this bank. Very textural and supple, merlot lush and not he grip of right bank Cab. Sav. but enough supporting tannins. Could last but great right now. Hedonistic as all fine Pomerol should be.

Much better than the last bottle which I didn't rate/review because it was so disappointing. Medium ruby showing some hints of brown. Lovely aromas of cedar and gravel. Only 12.7% abv. Unlike the last bottle this wine is showing some underlying fruit notes to accompany the gravel and leather. Fully mature. If you have this wine, drink these sooner than later.

Bottle bought at auction. Good condition. Dark in color. Nose closed at first, but after a while some dark fruit, with plum and blackberries. Also some leather, roses and dark chocolate. In the mouth rather stern tannins, medium acidity and a stony iron minerality, almost austere, not at all as frutiy as the nose suggests. Wood, iron, tobaco, cholate and some rumbling dark fruit. Good length and nice, bitterchocolate finish. Quite nice, drink or hold.

Tried second bottle from same case and no oxidization so the earlier bottle must have been bad. Poured into decanter and drank over 2.5h. Initially barnyard, then scorched earth, herbs, dark fruit, and a fair bit of oak. No noticeable tannins, failry long finish. Impressive for the vintage but score a bit lower than what I exepected when drinking the oxidized bottle because of a little too much oak for my taste. 91-92

Decanted for about 30 min and drank over 2 or so hours. Bottle in perfect condition, cork barely stained. Still a medium garnet almost to the rim. Unfortunately the nose displays a clearly oxidized note which dominates some earthy flavors, and becomes even more prominent after an hour or so in the decanter. With the exception of the (more subtle) sherry note, the palate shows a beautiful wine with a perfectly balanced assortiment of dark fruit. Long finish with a touch of chocolate which intensifies after swallowing. Would see this at 92-93 if not oxidized

- Garnet color and aromas of blackberry. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry and prune with a full body. Round texture with a long finish - Lovely fruity merlot nose. Very complex still, but opened up very full and smooth. Within its peak and would still hold strong for a few more years.

2011 Casual Session - 18 @ Jade Palace (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): Alcohol :: 12.7% Dark garnet core with brick rim. This was Really delicious, fully matured but with enormous energy and drive. This has alluring aromas of perfume dried roses, leather, sweet plum, smoke meat, earth, chalk and touch of milk chocolate that wrapped up to the very soft, complex and elegance bouquet. Palate is as good as the nose that still possess very good freshness and focus, tobacco leaf, mint, earth, with good sweetness from sweet plum and acid from blackberry that accompany with mineral freshness, very good and delicious. The tannin is very fine and almost fully resolved. Finish is long and linger. with matured complex mouth feel and bitter cocoa. This is way better than the previous bottle.

Lovely texture in the mouth – fairly explosive on the attack with maturing red fruit flavors. The wine glides across the palate holding interest throughout.
