Very nice Rhone blend that is heavy on Mourvedre (70%). Very smooth and silky, with cassis, smoke, salami, tapenade, spice and a strong mineral streak. Still on the tannic side, but not overly. They just need to soften and integrate a bit. While not quite as lush as the '15, this bottle is still very enjoyable. It can go at least a decade.

This, again, remains one of my favorite rotor bottles. Ripe red and black fruit on the nose, some earthy undertones. Palate matches the nose with some dustiness as well as some animal like earthy tones I think reflecting that Mourvèdre. Just enough acidity to keep it refreshing.

An at peak pleasure. It's got both ripe and dried red fruit, dried herbs, caramel, and a little spice. I think for pure drinking pleasure, this is at its best. But I can only imagine how beautifully this will develop into a savory, tertiary Mourvedre. God bless whoever put these on Winebid for $30.

Wine of the year, so far! (No accounting for taste, eh.) Anyway, from nose to tail, it’s fabulous: newsprint and blackberry olfactory, followed by exquisite balance of the mourvedre-dominate flavors of lively, peppery black-and-blue fruit, just the right amount of acid and, finally, a saliva-inducing finish that goes on ‘til sunrise. Damn! How can it get any better? Drink up!

Medium+ ruby colour. Medium intensity aroma of earth, stones. Dry, medium- tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ acidity. Medium body. Medium intensity flavour of raspberry, smoke, wet earth, white pepper. Long finish.
For a Mourvèdre heavy GSM blend, very nice. A lot of tertiary characteristics for such a young wine.

Might just be the best Rotie Cellars red we've ever had which is saying a lot.... beautiful, deep dark fruit, detailed and long finish... no oak to speak of... and the Mourvedre really stands out.... outstanding...

Enjoyed just after a bottle of the 2016. 16 was showing a bit of age, this bottle was vibrant. I’m drinking the rest of the 17 before too long. 😉
