Conclusion: 2005 porte ses fruits dans le temps! Superbe tenue pour le rang. Bravo! ABS 90 RQP +1

Fathers Day pre celebration dinner at Brodard Chateau. Paired with some vietnamese duck dishes. Upon cracking this one, right off the bat the wonderful aromas of this 05 vintage found its way rightway up into my nose. color was vibrant and pure, ruby-ish, garnet-ty like, looked like some sort of precious rock. gave it a few whirls to decant in glass and waited patiently for the wine to let loose a little and unwind. Mild like fruit forward taste, red berries & some plum action going on. this wine doesnt scream at you, just goes down very easy and ends with an easy lingering finish. not a complex wine just very easy drinking bordeaux which could use another few years to evolve but is drinking nice right now. I enjoyed it.

Had at Auction Wine Party and it was better than I expected. We opened it up about two hours ahead. Paired it with tenderloin and sauteed vegetables and it went well. Not a long finish. Nice color and body. Ready to be drunk.

Upon openning, dense dark ruby, reflections are redish, aging process has begun, nose of red fruit, cherry, raspberry, oak, is only slightly closed. mouth is much more expresive: lots of fruit, mineral aspects, good acidity, firm tanins, moderately long. Surprinsingly good. Considering I buy wine in Quebec (i.e. minimum 75% more expensive) this is an excellent QPR at 28$ (for my taste anyhow). Bought two. Will go buy 2 more tomorrow. How it holds in the next 24 hours will determine if it's worth aging much more. Already good that's for sure. Verdict after 24 hours: still good but any sweet fruityness has given way to fruity bitterness... Certainly not better than yesterday. Probably shouldn't let it age too much more...

Really big fruit on the nose and palate. Moderate tannins. Still very tight. Opened up a bit over a two hour window while drinking small glasses. Definitely decant. At the early end of the drinking window. I would look forward to drinking this one in another couple of years.

Brett bloom fairly evident on nose; dominate otherwise pleasant nose. Ripe, polished tannins and firm acidity frame a medium-bodied, well-balanced wine. Fruit is tempered by earth and some reductive notes. Aside from the bretty nose a fairly nice Bordeaux.

A bit thin on the palete, but smooth with good tobacco and smoke. Has a bit of tannins but not too much structure or depth. A competent and representative graves, but seems like its drinking as well it'll ever be. A good wine, but not sure why I was so impressed the first time though. 88-89

Really tight when popped, but opened up nicely over the three hour decant. After decant, really smooth tannins, a little spics and some minearlity on the back of the palette. Really enjoyed this one and it is a bargain at $18.

Fruit seemed very subdued in this bottle, with a tangy and tannic finish. Its smoothness and mouthfeel remains but there's no brightness in this ... all I get is leather and cedar. Even village level wines (so to speak) are shutting down in this vintage? Day 2 - More fruit showing today, but tannins are chalky in the back.

Decanted about 35 minutes before first pour. Somewhat tight, gradually opening more over the evening. Unripe blackberry at times, more cherry at others. Lots and lots of cedar right now. Also graphite and touch of menthol and rocks. It's a very lithe mouthfeel, modest midpalate, quite tannic finish, which I think is both from the grape and the wood tannins. More power than elegance and needs some time to integrate. The cedar, though a glorious aroma, is playing first fiddle right now. I may pick up a couple more to cellar as it is enjoyable and got some good stuffing.

Moldy wet cardboard smell ... corked. But then I tasted it and it wasn't that bad, perhaps only slightly tainted. I ended up not returning this because it was still smooth with dark berries and a very leathery/smokey good finish. Well balanced despite the TCA ... I can still taste the good raw ingredients.

I'll revise the prior note to indicate that the wine may be ready to drink right now through 2020 or so. Beyond that, remarkably similar -- cherry in the mouth, perfect balance, long finish, good acidity. Very nice wine, good QPR.

Initially a little thin but gained weight with air. This wine reminded me why I love Bordeaux (having mostly been drinking burgundy/rhone/new world lately) with its deep lush smokey leathery goodness. Full mouthcoating finish with nice tannic structure. Lovely. Day 2 - gained a certain roundness and complexity ... tannins still slightly chalky in texture but I'm loving this.

Ruby in the glass. Powerful nose of cassis and cedar. Bountiful flavor, with cherry dominant (extremely so, in fact), cassis, spice and earth. Lush tannins indicate the wine has quite some time to live. Well-balanced, long finish.
Drink 2012-2020.

Color of dark red/violet. Aroma of dark fruit, blackberry, tobacco and coffee. Taste of fruit, tannins and spicy flavors, chocolate, berry and smoke. (Made of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot; decant for 1-2 hours)

Very young and delicious wine. A wine of this caliber at this price, especially considering the weak American dollar, really shows off how special 2005 Bordeaux really is. Give this wine 3-4 years in the bottle to show its true colors. 89-92.

Decanted for three hours. Still tight initially. It opens up nicely in the glass. However, this could use a few years in the cellar. Solid wine overall from start to finish. Does not have the depth of a top level Bordeaux.
