This bottling is drinking well off a PNP. Definitely on the fruit-forward side of things but the wine is still in balance. I see no reason to wait at this point in time.

Overly heavy. Sour more than sweet. Seems to be far over-extracted. Too tannic — and for reference, I like tannic syrahs. Doesn't even taste like a zin. Kept this open for 10 days to see whether it would soften up, and it didn't. Not pleasant to drink, whether on its own or with food.

1 hour decant. Had with grilled BBQ chicken and quinoa. A slight chill helped turn down some of exuberant sweetness. As I have more of these (bigger/rounder) Turleys I find my palate (atleast currently) favoring Ridge Geyserville/Lytton/Pagani bottlings more. Nothing against this bottle as it was very tasty.

As expected, this straddles the line between hedonistic pleasure and wine atrocity. I'll go with the former, as there's enough acidity to keep a sense of freshness lingering on the finish. Which is good, because this is otherwise an assault of sweet blackberry, prune, and oak throughout.

Another disappointment from an '18 Turley red. This is a ripe, sweetish, simple, glycerin filled cherry flavored concoction. I expect a more mouth filling, mouth coating, lingering style from Turley, like other vintages I've reviewed.
I though it was a “meh” wine until I read the other reviews, most rating it in the 90s. What do I know! A tasty wine without the wow of other Turley offerings. Plums, apricots, boysenberries. Drink now to 2026. Pass.
Just like almost any Zin Larry Turley produces, this is fabulous. It reminds me of the flavors I've tasted from other old vine Zins grown in the sandy soils of Contra Costa County with great winemaking! This wine got better as it sat open while drinking the bottle.

Cherry, raspberry and other berry flavors, with some pepper and spice. Fairly bold and alcoholic, so it paired very nicely with a strong tasting vegetarian dish with Thai spices, grains, squash and beets.

This wine needs a long time to open up — I decanted for 1 hour but it was better after 2 hours. I enjoyed this wine, but I will not buy it again. I prefer some of Turley’s other single-vineyard Zinfandels and this was a little too alcoholic for my taste. I think this is a “food wine”.
Smoked meat, blackberry, blueberry, bramble and barnyard aromas. The funky barnyard seems to blow off after a while. The nose is dense and complex, you have to tease out each scent. Jammy blueberry, blackberry, black currant, blue raspberry and spice flavors. Really nice fruity finish — the flavor coats your mouth and lingers for a while. Highly alcoholic finish. There is tons of fruit... and tons of alcohol.

Recommended by a neighbor who gave me this bottle. Grown in the present-day shadow of crackling overhead powerlines in the Evangehlo, Mori & Salvador ‘old-vine’ vineyards, dating back to 1890, next to the banks of the San Joaquin River at Antioch, Ca (Rumpole's Thames Embankment?); known for their soft and silky Tannins.
Served with entrée of Filet Mignon in Bordelaise sauce & Crispy Onions. Lovely, Clear Purple-Red on the pour. Medium to Full-bodied, Powerful and Bold with Red Fruit (cherries, raspberries) on the nose, carrying over to the palate. Round, full, exquisite feel in the mouth. Subdued, yet supple tannins for a fuzzy tooth feel with subtle spice notes of pepper & nutmeg. Alcohol level is somewhat elevated at 15.4% abv, faintly hinted on the nose; barely noticeable on the palate. Good acid balance provides a pleasant lingering finish. No Pomeroy's Plonk this; A Hit! Spouse Endorsed. I’ll buy more; (and try additional Zins from Turley’s other California vineyards).
Until recently anything above 90 points is pretty much uncharted territory for me, but I’ll go ahead and take a stab at it and say: 93 Pts (not to mention: LIKE).

Big and bold in expression. Shows only medium extraction. Hides the 14.9% ABV pretty well. I didn't notice any heat on the palate even if my head felt heavier than normal. Enough acidity to keep this drinking lively. Pretty tasty. It doesn't really show much complexity or secondary types of notes. I'd drink sooner rather than later so that alcohol doesn't start leaking onto the palate as the fruit starts laying back.

Tasted as part of a virtual event thru a local wine shop; medium body with fresh acidity and smooth tannins; dark fruit aromas with wood undertones; reasonably balanced with crisp edge and medium finish.

Deep purple color with slow legs. A little barnyard on the nose with mixed berry jam. Plum, blueberry and tea the palate. Long leathery finish. Should get better with more time in the bottle.

Drinking very nicely now. Cherry, plum and a good enough amount of tannin to provide structure. Big and fruity.

Very sweet fruit bomb. Not defective, but not what I anticipated, either

Similar notes to before, but enjoyed even more tonight, and it was a crowd favorite. One of the better Turley Zins that I have had in recent years.
