93 vvPunkte

My wife will suggest we have "too much wine", until I pop open an older vintage like this 2011. I'm enjoying this without food, sipping, and sniffing. This has evolved nicely from when I purchased it several years ago. Glad I waited. This is when I remind my wife how difficult it is to find a wine as refined in the current offerings. *smile* Bold, nice fruit but not sweet, some oak, in a dark inky purple. Absolutely no bricking and the tannins have resolved. I love the peppery finish.

My last bottle of this vintage. A winery that aims to produce the best in the world. A long way to go. This one is explosive in aromas and intense on the palate, but with a touch of Bordeaux elegance. Some vegetable, tobacco and sweet spice touch. A very outstanding wine.

Revisiting the wine at 8k elevation in AZ Berries and leather abound - liquorice bounces around on palate but not too strong Candied berries finished- but not sweet Great tannin structure PnP Still bright compared to 10 - drinking back 2 back More liveliness with 2011 - still can be stored (5yr?)

Lush fruit, so pure even at 10 years old, silky entry, floral and fresh. The fruit flavors are lifted and points to a great backbone that all of this is supported off so it is not flabby at all. graceful even, Very interesting Chilean wine and one you will want to follow.

Trilyrakis Portfolio tasting (Oinoscent): Sampled at Oinoscent, wine brough by importer The wine is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 19% Carmenere. Bottle no 10477 The wine shows density in the nose, dark fruit, black currants and cherries, green pepper notes and capsicum. The wine shows medium to full body, smoke, coffee and chocolate notes, medium to high acidity, long finish. The oak is upfront but not really that aggressive, the tannins are still kicking but not harshly. The wine would be better to drink with food and after a few hours in the decanter. Aggressively priced

Equilibrado.

Great cab-mix with carmenere, cab-franc, merlot and syrah! At opening you get very hard tannins and an insane blackcurrant tone. After 2 hours in the decanter you sense a balanced and elegant cabernet/carmenere-mix with more raspberry/blackcurrant, smooth tannins and dark ruby color. Really intense fruit, some leather and spices and pure joy! Much similarities with some of the great bordeauxs. Enjoyed together with a beef tenderloin.

Tasting of wines from Viña Vik (Vik A 2014, Milla Calla 2013, La Piu Belle 2011 and VIK 2011). Vik A is a simplier version of Milla Calla with the advantage of being at it's peak, while Milla Calla needs more time in the bottle. In a different level of quality, the same relation can be felt when comparing La Piu Belle to VIK. Long decanting solves a big part of the issue for Milla Cala and VIK though.

Simply an amazing wine. At the suggestion of the sommelier we tried this gem. Aroma was of raw meat, very earthy. Flavor was so deep and smooth it was awesome. Cherry shortly after the bottle was opened gave way to blueberry later in the glass. Body was pure silk.

Confraria Amigos do Vinho.

Coravined one glass also using Coravin's new aerator attachment. Let decant for 30 minutes in the glass. Deep purple with a magenta rim. Big nose of chrysanthemum, blackberry, dark cherry and oak. Initial entry is sweet and ultra smooth. Softly coats the tongue with blackberry, cola, anise and baker's cocoa. Really nice balance of drying tannins (with some lite chalkiness) and acidity. Full bodied. On par with Don Melchor but with a little more punch than the Don. Good stuff. About 93-94.
We had a hard time picking between this wine and a 2013 Stagecoach, Krupp Brother’s. It totally heald up to the Napa cab and was a great conversational piece to our blind tasting. And a very unique blend at that. If you ever have a chance, go visit this winery! Amazing restaurant, gorgeous scenery, and fascinating wines!

FULL CIRCLE BEVCON 2017 SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE FOCUS, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon blend using Chile varietals, most of the vines were planted in 2006, nose of dark fruit, allspice, earth, and spring flowers, same on the palate, medium/big body, needs 5 years to peak, lovely and rich fruit, very tasty, almost elegant, worth the search and the $140 Retail, long, flavorful finish, tasted three times during the 150 minute event and still the one.

This is a big bold wine. For what I have tasted, this is the best wine of Chile. It's still young, but already delicious. Deep dark garnet, complex, full body, specially good on the palate, but has an interesting finish also. May become an outstanding wine within 3 or 4 years.

Wow, what a shocker. I really didn't expect a lot from this as there is a lot of hubris behind the making of the wine, but boy was I in for a surprise!
First off, this is NOT bordeaux as is the partial goal of the maker... but it's damn close. Really amazing considering this wine has not been made for very long.
Definitely cab on the nose with classic traits of eucalyptus, leather, tobacco, etc. Palette was far more elegant than expected. Smooth and full mouthfeel. Lots of tannis, but well structured. This is definitely an age worthy wine. Dark cherry, a bit of spice box, good balance of earth, vanilla, and a host of secondary herby flavors that come together in a well knit drink. Expensive, yes, but if you want to find bordeaux at this price that's as good you're going to have to look hard for a deal.
