  • Disappoint for the price point. Solid Cab, but somewhat uninspired and forgettable.

  • Pop and pour. Very smooth and tasty Napa cab but ultimately not very inspiring. Delicious dark fruit with a bit of chocolate but seemed a bit flabby. Would not hold for long term drinking.

  • By the glass. Excessively mature wine on the nose and mouth. Palate has tons of wood changing into a wine with an abundant texture, a density that is hardly balanced just with a tenuous acidity. Long and opulent finish. I couldn’t find a glimpse of that promised elegance.

  • This opaque ruby wine was decanted and given four hours of air prior to serially sampling over the ensuing 2-3 hours. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, it remains packed with dark bramble fruits, cassis, Asian spices, black olive tapenade and lavender. Full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity and with well-integrated alcohol (14.5%), it frames the flavors with plentiful silky-textured tannins and a judicious amount of spicy oak. Dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this has aged very little since last being tasted 10/14/2020. I suspect that well-cellared bottles will last longer than previously projected. Drink now-2032.

  • Kinda ripe plummy fruit on the nose. With some oak showing through.

  • Not decanted. Mostly opaque purple color in the glass. Prominent, fruit-driven aromas led by plum, blackberry, currant and mocha. The palate brings dark chocolate, prune, blackberry and muddy earth. Tannins are medium and fully integrated. Acidity is medium. Very creamy texture focusing on plushness in exchange for lower acidity. Finishes at medium length.

  • - Brick color. It's lacking fruit with a medium body. Satin-Like texture with a short finish.

  • Drank over three days. Was expecting more as I have heard great things about Ehlers. Understand this is their entry level bottle. Predominates notes of baking spice and red fruits. There seems to be very little tannic backbone in this wine.

Mid-weight with a short finish. The alcohol is well integrated as another taster mentioned. Have several bottles that I will try over the next few years.

Not one I would seek out in the future based on this price point. Much better options out there.

  • Restaurant purchase.Notes are 75 minutes after the Canton. A little thinAt the onset, added some weight with time, though not as much as we would’ve hoped. Also some initial metallic notes quickly faded.

Dark red fruit on the palate, just not as dark or rich/lush as their 1886. Not bad, but not something I would purchase on my own for retail based on tonight experience..

  • From a bottle that was Vinturi-decanted and allowed two hours in decanter prior to serially sampling, this opaque crimson blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc proved itself to be a winner. Packed with dark bramble fruits, cassis, Asian spices, black olive tapenade and lavender, it is a full-bodied red with seamless alcohol (14.5%) and low-to-medium acidity. The oak is restrained and the tannins, while plentiful, are silky-textured. Plump on the mid-palate and long on the back end, this is a delicious Cab that, while not inexpensive, represents excellent value for something that comes from what is arguably the world's premier Cabernet-growing appellation. Those who yearn for a "Napa Cabernet fix" need look no longer. This should provide hedonistic pleasure for another decade or more. Drink now-2030.

  • Retail $65. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc. While this wine would not fit most people's definition of "inexpensive" it is certainly a bargain when it comes to Napa Cabernet. Fairly dark in the glass and quite fragrant on the nose with violet, black currant, plum, and some dark spice. The palate is quite fruity right up front, a bit of a departure from previous Ehlers wines, with acidity and some depth. A bit of spice precedes a lengthy finish. This could use a few more years to settle down a bit, but it is certainly fantastic now. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Vibrant light purple color. Deep but bright aromas, with red and black currants. It opens up well to show violets, clove, warm clay and earth. Grippy tannins and vibrant acidity frame the wine well. Delicious, crunchy currants, smooth saucy plums, deep yet crisp and balanced fruit. Complex notes of violets, tobacco, earth, graphite, mineral, nuanced espresso and dark chocolate. For the price, this is such a complex and age-worthy Napa Cabernet. It needs five to seven years to show its best, but a good decant would make this accessible young as well. Includes 20% Cabernet Franc.
