This was scrumpdelicious!! Decanted for approximately 30 minutes before initial pour. Wonderful scents of blackberry jam wafted about the room. On the palate...nothing but shear deliciosity. Smooth and sensuous with a lively bright and SPICEY finish. This wine has been described as past it's prime but not this bottle. Wish I had more.

From memory: big yet balanced Napa cab. Drank table side during our Alaska cruise. Birthday wine, in a good place this evening. Food friendly. Pure modern Napa goodness.

No formal notes due to less-than-optimal stems and other issues around consuming wine while traveling.
Consumed over two days, was spectacular both days. Amazing balance: fruit, leather, smoke, cocoa, sweet tannin, and a finish that, though not terribly long, begs for another sip. Only a trace amount of heat on the finish, which was a concern given the purported alcohol content.
I would highly recommend this wine, as it distinguishes itself well from other Napa blends while maintaining the expected levels of hedonistic pleasure.

Let breathe in the bottle for three hours. Gorgeous medium dark ruby red color. Aromas of well spiced medium dark red cherries, red flowers, lovely allspice, earth and distinct star anise and menthol. Palate is super sexy showing a lovely textured mouth feel. Completely velvet with a finish that isn't at all telling of its 16.9% alcohol. This was a fantastic vintage of a classic Napa bottling showcasing its beautiful lush and ripe mountain fruit. Kept getting better and better throughout the evening. Absolutely wonderful juice. Worth the price in my opinion.

Deep, dark purple in color. The nose gave hints of currant, esprasso, and damp earth. The mouth feel was velvety, with currant, black cherry, and cedar flavors bursting forth. Extremely complex and well put together. It's a fruit foward blend that workes very well together. Outstanding once again.

Decanted 4 hours. Editing Laube's comments: Some spicy currant, wild berry, cedar and anise flavors that are complex however was not concentrated. The minerally earth nuances tended to knock the fruit down in a bad way for us. Time may reduce minerality however it's lacking concentration and depth.

Surprisingly good bottle with strong backbone. Missing only an "OMG!" reaction.

Dark blue and black fruits, raisin, licorice, chewy tannins that are mostly resolved, velvety mouthfeel, throwing a lot of sediment at this point.

Very nice bottle. Clean color. Plenty of aromas. Medium body. Savory flavors. Much better than I expected it to be. Too bad it's my last bottle.

A WOW wine! Knocks your socks off right out of the bottle. Juicy, thick wine with tons of fruit and a long finish.

I always enjoy the Cuvee Julia wines. Could really taste the spice Petite Sirah brings to the wine.
