2019 Crocker & Starr Sauvignon Blanc

Community Tasting Notes

Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 91.1 points

  • Since last being tasted a year ago, this wine has held up well. Comprised entirely of Sauvignon Blanc that was 100% whole cluster pressed and fermented in concrete eggs (77%), stainless steel barrels (14%) and used French oak barriques (9%), it was then aged for nine months sur lies. Continuing to flaunt tropical and stone fruit aromas that are accented with floral and dried herbal notes, it is a light-bodied, vibrantly acidic white with well-integrated alcohol (14.4%) and flavors that mirror the aromas. Softly oaked, dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this is a delight to drink. Enjoy it over the next couple of years. Drink now-2023.

  • Clear and bright, lightly green gold. Flavorful but pretty high acidity; grapefruit and lemon lime mix. Very crisp, medium length on lighter expected body.

  • Solid Sauvignon Blanc and probably one of the better ones I gave had. Half hour decant in glass and served at outside temp of around 67 degrees. Beautiful in the glass with just a slight greenish hue. Nose is really nice and smooth on the tongue. Not overly acidic like some Blancs. Green apple was prominent but slightly citrusy in its finish. Really enjoyed this wine and yes, I know, I am usually not a white person.

  • This pale yellow/green wine is comprised of 100% Sauvignon Blanc that was 100% whole cluster pressed. Fermentation was carried out in concrete eggs (77%), stainless steel barrels (14%) and used French oak barriques (9%), followed by nine months of élevage sur lies. Flaunting attractive aromas of tropical and stone fruits that are accented with notes of jasmine, chamomile and chervil, it is a light-bodied, crisply acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.4%) white with flavors mirroring the nose. Complimentary hints of oak are pervasive on the solid mid-palate and lengthy back end. This well-crafted wine adds an extra dimension that sets it apart from the crowd. Enjoy it over the next three years. Drink now-2023.
