didn't decant as it was a last minute decision to open, so i think an hour or two would have allowed it to open more, but still quite good out of the gate. a bit jammy and tannins strong on the front, but did mellow over the course of the evening.

Nearly a year since my last two bottles, I see. Notes rather similar: slightly sweet cherry flavours, a sense of pent-up energy, very fine tannins and lip-smacking acidity. But it does seem smoother, more rounded, and slightly more open. Still, I suspect it is not yet at its peak.

Vibrant purple. Attractive but fairly tightly wound berry aromas. Typical Grenache raspberry flavours; fine, grippy tannins; a spiciness on the finish. This strikes me as having enormous potential, though it is slightly closed at the moment. 14.5%, cork.

Took a little bit but then - and somewhat shockingly - an gorgeous black and blueberry compote thing happened. Somewhat like liquid alcoholic jam. If that's your thing, this has got it!

Ventoux is a real go-to for me for inexpensive wines that outperform their price points. Dried cherries, herbs, acidity, earthiness - it's all there.

Another bottle, very similar notes. After 24 hours it's starting to relax and open up: sweet cherry fruit and bracing salinity.
