Still deep ruby, slight fading to edge. Nose of plums and cherries and the Spice Islands. In a really good place right now. Tons of fruit - ripe black plum mainly, with black cherry and then a touch of blackberry. And engaging secondary tastes, bit of dark mushroom, tons of warm spices, cedar. Plenty acidity, very smooth tannins. Maybe you could wish for a touch more length but decent enough. Not a grand wine but a most enjoyable one, drinking well.

Tawny rim. Plum, black cherry, leather, and cedar on the nose. Red cherry, redcurrant, liquorice, and slight earthy notes. Silky tannins and solid acidity. Beautifully elegant and excellent length on the finish.
Needs to be drunk soon though as tertiary notes are starting to overtake the primary and secondary notes and the acidity is starting to become more dominant. Drink up!

This wine tastes much more youthful than it looks. Plenty of vibrant, rich fruit - it would seem that this wine is in the early years of its drinking window. Still very rich and medium/full bodied. Terrific QPR.

An easy afternoon with close friends. 2010-02: St. Emilion & Pomerol. (@ FD): Pleasant bouquet with some complexity, cassis and liquorice. On the palate the same, including some red fruits. Pleasantly oaked and elegant. An excellent wine, but will never belong to the greatest. Ready now and will remain on this level or even improve a bit the next 2 - 5 years.

Dark red color fading surprisingly and significantly at the rim for such a young wine. The nose is elegant and attractive, with licorice, cedar, leather, black pepper and red fruit. The palate is quite balanced, with firm and sweet tannins in harmony with generous fruit and good acidity. The finish is a bit short, but pleasant nonetheless. Just a tad short of being outstanding, but very good indeed.

Muito bom. Taninos ainda muito firmes. Complexo, fino, mas nao totalmente equilibrado. Rubi muito intenso. Cor bastante fechada, ainda. Aromas de couro, tabaco, bem tipicos de um bordales, mas senti falta da elegancia de um St. Emilion.

Consumed at 12 hours and 36 hours after decanting, with the wine showing virtually no signs of oxidation. Bright disc. Opaque black/purple with purple rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense black and red currants, plum, vanilla, cedar and licorice. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and alcohol. Similar flavors as for the nose. At the 36-hour point, chocolate aromas and flavors enter the picture. The tannins are full but very supple. Medium, slightly hot finish.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #114; Bordeaux: St. Emilion Grand Cru Classé (By me): In the bouquet dark berries, coffee, cocoa and oaky flavors. On the palate red and dark berries, chocolate, marzipan, good acidity, a good bite and a good length. Completely ready now and next year. Not for long keeping.

Really classic. Couldn't resist my second bottle of this. Notes almost identical to last one.
