Lovely with ocean and honeydew notes. Light palate but also serious with puckering phenolics and acidity. Drink now or wait 10 years, good either way but will only improve.

Today, 2019 Briords is showing it's Chenin side. I mean, after the aerosol oyster, and mulled green apple, it bares a glimpse of quince. ________ 24 hours later, greatly improved. This is the version that can join an outdoor session on the coast. It's more casually drinkable this way; with terrific mineral grip. There once was a time when I might have misjudged its rather closed presentation yesterday as "oxidized" or infirm. Nope. It wants air, or another 5-10 years in the bottle.
This pour is 63° F, according to the probe in the drinking cup.* Serving temperature makes a nontrivial difference with Briords. Below 55°F/13°C it can be blowzy and dull almost to the point of vacancy. It's been a head-scratcher for years, but there it is.
EYE: certainly more pale than a recently opened 2018; silver and greenish; a translucent shimmer of gas races from solution on the pour. NOSE: delicate chablis-salt, green pome, lemon blossom, lime marmalade, agitated gravel. MOUTH: chop-thick, savory texture brings a ready scatter of crisp herbs and whole citrus, particularly lemon. There's an interesting mulch of black cherries and bay leaf before the appetizing bitter stone takes over on the finish. Classic proportions; clean; adolescent without awkwardness; racy and drinkable. I'll have to open one of these remaining bottles for my island friends. Celestial 92+
*Depleting shreds of physics literacy insist that drinking temperature is a weighted average of the temperatures of the bottle, the drinking cup, and the surrounding air.

PNP. Cork perfect. Color light straw. Nose is typical melon de bougogne and seems light in character. On first open it seems too brisk (as always) but as it warms a bit and after a couple of oysters this comes alive. Swishing show creamy acidity framing the fruit. Super clean med length finish. This worked almost as well w turkey chili that followed. Yum

The least interesting Briords of the last 7-8 years. I am in the middle of my third of three bottles, all consumed much younger than virtually any other vintage. Does someone want to suggest that this particular vintage DEMANDS aging to show its stuff?
24 hours later I'm finding some of the stuffing that was missing yesterday. My sensei, who is a proponent of 24 hour (or longer) exposure to air, would be ashamed of me. Now this wine has an aroma. Now some backbone is appearing. Score will be adjusted accordingly. Still not putting this vintage with the best Briords.
Light hay in color, just a delicious, tasty white wine, plenty of intensity, beautiful acidity along with some minerality, salinity, one of the world’s great wine bargains.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted next to the 2017 vintage of the same over a few hours --
NOSE: the '19 was brighter, and more Sauv. Blanc-esque, than the '17; fuzzy limey mineral note here, as opposed to the minty fennel presentation on the '17.
BODY: light green-yellow color (tad darker on the '17, as expected); medium-light bodied.
TASTE: medium+-to-high acidity on both; '17 is bassier; 12.0% alc. is well-hidden on both; preferred the brighter, zippier, '19, but both were quite enjoyable.

A fine bottle of Muscadet this opened with a pale colour and a fresh nose of melon, gooseberry, oyster shell and the sea. On the palate there is plenty of grip and oyster shell minerality balanced by touches of honeydew, gooseberry and lemon zest. Thoroughly delicious drinking.

Really nice, drinking great, fresh, lovely back and forth of citrus/lemon/lime. Mineral hints, along with suggestions of floral and fruit, all add depth to go with the citrus core. A bit of roundness that enhances the balanced palate. As others observe, a bit of age showing.

Two years later, paired with Xmas Eve oysters again and perhaps even better than before - this is a fabulous wine, full of lemon and lime, but with a classical streak that keeps it on the straight and narrow. Less exotic for now than the Clisson, the latter may surpass it in time but it's hard to see how.

I liked a good deal more than my last go. Very classic yet with richer fruit. Pears and minerals with that touch of saline prickliness at the finish. The fruit is starting to take on a touch of the rounder edge maybe. That edgy mineral bomb you love this for is likely to start fading into the softer, filtered glow as it picks up more years. Terrific.

BODY: very light green-yellow color (nearly colorless); medium-light bodied.

Very impressive. The salty tang I've noticed in the past is there very prominently, this time it seemed much more open with good pear and peach fruit to flesh it out a bit. Lovely.

This time I noticed that ripeness others noted here. It makes it fall off in the midpalate. The acidity is still solid, including a bit of minerality. The fruit expression makes for a bumpier ride even with the nice structure. All that doesn't deter this from still being a decent value. Its just not the stellar value it is in better vintages.
Consistent with previous note, although today it seemed a bit more rounded, with honeydew melon on the nose. The salty acid tang on the finish is impressive. It’s better with food than on its own - mussels on this occasion.

Not feeling this one, been drinking Briords since 2011 vintage and it is one of my favorite value whites. There is a tropical fruit ripeness in the wine that is not to my liking, a bit of melted artificial tropical candy flavor, like pineapple and banana. I always liked the chiseled minerality of this wine but it is lacking in this vintage. Hope time resolves this down the line.

Terrific muscadet. Didnt take any notes, but enjoyed it very much (But didnt undertand what the hoopla was about. Other Muscadets from Domaine del Pepiere or even other good producers like Luneau-Papin etc. are also very good. Why is this one allocated?)
Perfectly fine - clean and light as you would expect Muscadet to be, with a particularly persistent chalky finish and a lightly salty tang to it - appetising, but I'm not sure I'm all that blown away by it as some others are.

Decanted. Now 1.5h after decant. Pale gold. Aromas of lemon, pears, tart apples, minerals, iodine, sea spray. Palate with gala apples, a bit of lemon, unripe pears, nice minerals, iodine, nice saline and chalky midpalate. Excellent acids but rounded by the ripe fruit. Excellent finish of ripe apples, unripe pears, chalky minerals, iodine and saine. The ripe vintage shines through with the pear flavors but well balanced with freshness, acid and the chalky minerals and saline profile. A bigger mouthfeel and weight than say 2014 but still excellent.

For me, Briords is simply a cut above all other muscadet, save only for the Pepiere wines even higher up the totem pole. And cut is the key word, because that's where this wine sets itself apart. It simply has more acid cut, more length, and more minerality than most other muscadet. This strikes me as a vintage with a tension between the ripe fruit and the acidity, but there is enough verve to make it really exciting. It never veers into the roundness and almost oxidized character I find in the still riper vintages. Excellent stuff.

Another year of Briords, another winner. The ripe year shows in that there's plenty of mineral flesh, but there's no lack of acid, maybe a little more zip than the 2018. Delicious as always.

Perfectly understated, with a whisper of white peach and lemon, coupled with flinty/chalky minerality. There's a suggestion of mint and the palate is quite neutral but lacks no character. The finish is dry, with some citrus rind freshness. A very fine Briords.

Classic year Briords - tightly coiled and almost backwards in structure. Finely chiseled, with granitic mineral, high acid, sea spray, lemon aromatics, with some background notes of curry leaf and unripe apricot. Broad texture, but feels a bit monolithic and ungenerous at this point. Reminds me of 2014. Probably needs 3-5+ to fully unfurl.

Well hell-O bowl full of sunshine! Creamy and a little richer than what I'm use to in the Muscadet...this has substance! Absolute rockin crushed geology here...chalky limestone, salty sea air...little white pepper spice...lovely florals of lime blossom and white flower...just wonderful freshness and SCREAMS for shellfish by the sea!

Rule of thumb: Muscadet grown on gneiss should be served colder than Muscadet grown on granite. Briords is on granite. Pour it no colder than 57° F. It starts like a salted slab of meaty botany. Amchur, lime blossom, bottarga, stone, and pear dust. The acids swagger all the more as the drink warms. (I wonder how it would taste mulled? lol) Big-boned, all muscle, pretty, and thorough. The finish is a searing electric guitar peal. It consists of heirloom banana peel leather and god sweat.

Lemon and chalk, citrus and mineral, lots of other structure and flavors. Light and delicate, but somehow robust all the same. This is just wonderful. Impeccable balance and great length. Played beautifully with crab cakes and orzo salad. The next day a bit was left which I drank at room temperature, just to see how it would taste. The palate was even more pronounced, only downsize was that being warm it was less refreshing. 11/8/20 Consistent 6/9/21 (or thereabouts) Just as good. 8/14/21 (in Maine): Yum!

I liked this a lot, as always when finding a fresh wine from france. Elegant aroma of peaches, but this wine scored on the palate as the aging on the lees gave it such a beautiful structure. Great value - probably won't be my last encounter with this Muscadet.

Crisp and light bodied with a lengthy finish - solid as always.

Tasted with oysters during Xmas, which was a marriage made in heaven, this was full of lemon and lime flavours with more crisp minerality than the 2018. Delicious.

This is really great. Very pale, almost platin color, grapefruit, certainly no lack of acidity, lots of minerals. Very fresh and young, bone dry. This has everything to last and improve further. Very good for now, had it with Loup tonight and it was a perfect match.

Good but a bit more fleshy than the 2017, shows the solar year of 2018

I cannot say I am crazy about this one. Light, bright, and focused. Some citrus, green apple, chalk. Good acidity to support the fruit. But not particularly distinctive. Very good QPR.

Apple, lemon, fennel, yeast. Butter on palate. High acidity, dry, slight bitter long finish. Excellent sea food wine.

I liked this a lot, as always when finding a fresh wine from france. Elegant aroma of peaches, but this wine scored on the palate as the aging on the lees gave it such a beautiful structure. Great value - probably won't be my last encounter with this Muscadet.
