Yellow. Quite pale. Translucent. Strong mineral-flint notes. Citrus. Especially grapefruit. Some pear. Punchy ginger. Super fresh. Really really long. Nice texture too. An almost grapefruit pithiness as well as juice. Very light integrated vanilla. Super good and will definitely age.

The nose has some struck match, green melon and white peach. It is quite fine on the palate, with a line of lemon-like acidity and a core of orchard fruits. It has lovely balance and a touch of spice to the persistent finish.

The other pleasant surprise in recent YY 2019 Vintage Tasting. I’d never tried YY Chardonnay. First impression was ‘a sophisticated, fresh Chardonnay balancing some delicacy with raciness’. There was citrus meeting stone fruit (even a tinge of tropical) but then in the centre an interesting broader gentleness evoking white/yellow flowers, or Viognier, or even aged Semillon. A lovely classy wine.
Struck match, bacon fat, chalky minerality, lemon over a touch of peach. Juicy, textured, creamy, more stone fruit than citric on the palate, subtle texture, tangy, clean, long, really very good indeed.

Cellartracker in the flesh with Pjaines (Paul), Porkandsalmon (Richard) and Vintomas (Tomas) (Various venues, London): Butter, peach, sweet spice, cream. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, tight, fruit forward, slightly out of whack but pleasant.

Real Review - Top Wineries of Australia (Campbell's store, Circular Quay West, The Rocks, Sydney): Rich, buttery but without being overtly tropical; lemon over peach and slight apricot. Juicy, tangy, fleshy, very slightly sharp. Textured mid palate, long and lovely.
