shared this with my wife on a cold Chicago Sunday evening paired with baby back ribs and pork short ribs with tangy bbq sauce. we were both struck by the deep purple color and hue of the wine. this wine is still holding up well after 10+ years in our cellar. Still some fruit that has matured- slight pepper with cinnamon and raspberries. I would open up another bottle if I had one now. Decanted for 30 minutes prior to enjoying and still going strong 2+ hrs after opening. I give it 92 points.

We could actually drink this one!! It was pretty good too. I agree with all of the bottle variation remarks and wasn't expecting much from this but wrong just doesn't cover it. The fruit and oak andminerals were so well integrated that it didn't seem like a blockbuster Turley at all. This actually had finess even though it says 16% ABV on the label. Must have gone straight to me head but the alcohol was hidden in the fruit and minerals and we liked it a lot.

Monster wine. Huge port-like nose with heavy bramble and spice. Thick and extracted sweet bramble on the palate. Really, this is like a liqueur more than a dry red wine. The 16% alc was prominent. I get where some people see Turley as a producer of over-the-top Zins but this is the first Turley that has been too much for me to enjoy.

This one didn't overwhelm me. It has 16% alcohol content, which dominated the experience early on. After about an hour, the wine opened up a bit, but still left a bit of a hot taste in my mouth. Perhaps paired against a very flavorful food, this would be better. The wine did show some complexity underneath the heat, but didn't show as much fruit as I would expect from a Turley. 88.

Pretty solid wine. I have not had a lot of zin in the past. This one seemed to have a prune/port kind of flavor going on. I like port so it was not a fault or anything. Mix ofvery ripe fruits.

This was much more youthful than I was expecting. Dark mountain blackberry, brambly nose and chewy mouthfeel. Fine tannins with a bit of heat on the finish. This is at peak and is quite well balanced. Heat is tempered by a cool in the refrigerator.

Dark red violet color. Nose is overripe raspberries and blackberries, with some alcoholoic heat. The palate is also over the top, even by Turley standards. This improved some on day two, so maybe there is hope. But this was not particularly enjoyable.

Not very balanced--comes across as kind of hot and tannic, even though there's a ton of fruit. This might just be at an awkward age, but definitely isn't a typical Turley stand-out.

I didn't take detailed notes, but this was a bruiser in the typical Turley sense. Mouth-coating, deep, dark fruit flavors, intense nose. Wish I had some more as I think this one might evolve a bit over the next couple years.

Deep purple, almost a ruby purple color stretching to the rim. Aromas were a bit muted through the 2 hour tasting. At first the wine was hallow and hot. After 45min the wine began to integrate but showed more cab traits than zin. After 90 min from opening, the juicy blackberry jam and pepper notes abound. Too bad it was my final glass to really see how this wine could score. I'll decant for an hour next time before tasting.

Atlanta Off-line at casa Golf & Zin Nut: Not decanted. Rich brown sugar aromas. White pepper and lots of heat. Large entry with a supple, smooth combination of cassis and pepper over some tannins, but a little short on the finish.

Seattle's 'Twisted Tongues' rock out with some ZINs (Mercer Island, WA, USA): Tasted blind at TT Zin Night Really like this nose. Blackberry Jam bursting with juicy aromas. Full body with juicy cherries and berries. Loses a little on the finish. Group Ranking (2nd best of 15) My Ranking 91 points and (5th best of 15)

Black as night. The nose shows raisins, plums, and loads of vanilla oak. The palate is incredibly lush and lick but extremely monolithic. I find flavors of spice, raisin, and blackberries. There is some heat on the finish. Not the best of the 2001's.
