  • Very enjoyable bottle. Decanted about two hours prior to dinner, served with filet and peppercorn sauce. Big, rich wine with plenty dark dusty fruit and nice structure. Enjoyable now, should be even better 3-5 years from now.

  • Splash decanted half the bottle and the cellar smelled like I had just pulled the cork on a young Behrens and Hitchcock from the early 2000's....Chien Lunatique or Fortunate?? Nose gushes dark, ripe black and blue fruit.

While the nose might lead me to believe the wine is syrupy, it isn't as it crosses the palate. The dark black fruit is still evident, but there's lots of gravel, some young oak and enough acidity to indicate that this should be better in a few hours.

  • Wonderful floral aromas. Amazing. Color is dark nearly black in the glass. Brooding, tempting. Deep dark fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis. Tannins are still a little tight but soft and rounding out nicely. Acidity braces the structure of the wine and provides amazing freshness and liveliness. Amazing wine. Terrific.

  • Black fruits and oak. Bold, structured and full bodied with slightly elevated acidity. Young, with firm tannins. Long finish. Acidity higher second day. Needs a longer decant than one hour I gave it. Plan to hold remaining bottles a few years in hopes of more complexity/balance. Good QPR @ $55.

  • First of a three pack from Last Bottle at $55. Quick splash in the decanter shows red fruit on the nose. This continues on the palate with silky tannins that are well integrated, making the wine seem more mature than it is. slight sour note on the finish.

This comes across much softer than the healthy glass I Coravin'd last night, making me wonder yet again about coravins ability to age a wine even over a short term.

Will hopefully update later to reflect a little more airtime for the portion of the bottle decanted this evening

Bump: 2.5 hrs in the decanter, this seems more dark and lush in the nose and front palate. Still light overall but a respectable quaff and decent qpr.

  • Hard to know if this label is using the same fruit as did the previous owners. It is labeled “Estate “, and Stag’s Ridge, so I am assuming it is. This vineyard is a neighbor to Stage coach. The wine maker has changed starting this vintage, and curiously this is the only Cabernet in the 2018 line up not professionally reviewed.
That said, it is a delicious wine, drinking far better than most 2018 at this young age. Typical Atlas Peak, dense, black fruits, savory, well balanced, refined tannins. Crushed stones, hint of cedar.
I am not certain this is worth the retail price, but is has frequently popped up as a flash sale for under $70 and is well worth that price.
I love the style here, but moving forward, I am undecided whether to keep purchasing this label, focus on Cardano, or explore the new owners Seven Apart project

  • Best of all worlds: plentiful Napa dark fruits but strong acid backbone that is often lost in Napa.

Blind, I would have guessed this was a left bank brodeaux blend. There is an undertone of earthiness, dried flowers, and cedar. Those flavors linger on the finish after the fruit fades. Tannins are already quite smoothed.

This is drinking very well righty now. I don’t think the tannins need much more time to mellow. On day two, the acid was overpowering. If you don’t drink soon, you may have a long wait for it to balance out again.

  • Hard for me to rate as we didn’t have time to decant or contemplate this wine much. That said my impressions are that it is still young and green, yet appealing and well structured, surely it will improve with some bottle time. 91+

  • This is a very young wine. If you are going to drink it now, please decant for at least 2 hours. I tried this due to scarcity, Vivino special pricing, and prior years users reviews. I was happily surprised and it is a phenomenal deal for the high quality of this wine and discounted price. I went to get additional bottles, but it was sold out not surprisingly.

    Highly recommended.
