Jon's 50th Birthday Dinner: Opened for an hour. Great focus and energy. Young, almost painfully so, but tons of stuffing. Tonight the 2013 was showing best, but this bottle will be great in a few years.

Twelve Vintages of Lafon Montrachet: A fantastic bottle. We've had this three times this year, and it consistently impresses the table. A great vintage.

Briefly decanted 60 minutes prior to dinner, then drunk leisurely over two hours. While showing the deep, rich elements of the vintage, it also showed more precision and acidity than a recent bottle. My sense is this vintage will likely drink quite well as it ages. An outstanding vintage for Lafon Montrachet.

Brad and Diane England and Peter Joseph weekend dinner, Part 2. (Roger Nellans home): Served alongside the '17 Lafon Monty and '10 Bouchard Monty. The '17 showed citrus, minerals, very fresh, some tropical fruit. Very complex, elegant and perfect balance. Excellent fresh finish. Although different style than the '19, I liked both a lot. The '19 had a bit of tropical fruit note, more ripe and viscous than the '17, but still excellent acidity. The '17 had more precision, acidity and freshness. The '10 Bouchard was quite good with tropical fruit, dry extract, rich, nice depth...a little more rough around the edges than both Lafons. By itself, this would be a great wine...but the competition was a bit too much this night.

Our first crack at the 2019. Killer nose from initial opening. The palate was deep and rich, oily, with exotic tropical notes. This is a great wine that I look forward to drinking over the years.

Woah, this was crazy good. One of the most complete and profound white wines I've ever had. Absolutely incredible. Weighty and rich, with perfect balance and acidity. Totally seamless.

Lafon Montrachet vertical with some great champagne and reds. (Four Seasons, Minneapolis, MN): Vertical tasting of Montrachet 2000-2019: Some matchstick that dissipates with air. A beautiful young wine and second favorite of the tasting. Lots of tropical fruit, rich, but still good tension leading to perfect balance. Lingering long finish.
