  • And now for something completely different...

    Why not German Pinot Gris. Lots grow it, but we rarely see it in the USA. For me it's sort of a middle way between the unctuous richness of so many Alsatian versions that are saddled with the runaway ripeness of climate change, and the slimmer (sometimes too slim) Northern Italian versions. I like a little of that oily texture, and I get just a hint of it here. I also like the bright acids that cut through the texture. Firm tree fruit, nut skin and fresh hay get a little kick of spice on the finish. It's not the most consequential wine on the planet, and I really don't want a consequential wine on a Friday when dinner is takeout. Cheers!
