2019 Louis Michel etc. (Chicago, IL): Clearly riper and broader than the 2019 Vaillon and Vaulorent, but not as expressive and rounded on the palate as the 2018 just before. Lean and ungiving right now, this probably could stand a few years of aging to make it more accessible.

This is nice. Citrus, pineapple and peach on the nose, with more classic Chablis character and zip on the palate than you might expect given that profile.

Given how ripe this showed to me last year I decided to pull one earlier than I normally would. Plus I need the cellar space. Showing almost closed this time without that forwardly ripe Chardonnay character. This is more grapefruit and steel. Tensile acid through the middle but still really without that classic lift. I get a touch of alcohol at the finish like David in his last note. But the fruit density in the midpalate married to the acid gives lots of hope for something more fetching to come. I'm still challenged in finding the classic lines we might want but the last sips on night two are more to my liking.

White peach, apple skin and flint make for a lovely aromatic, and the palate shows just enough richness to accurately balance the acidity. The only slight pause I have is that the alcohol sticks out a bit as it warms in the glass, but keeping it at just under cellar temp addresses that.

Classic light yellow wheat color. This is all about exquisite balance. Medium body. Wonderful interplay of ripe lemon, acidity, stone, and light herbs. It is just so delightful now that as soon as I tasted it, I went back to order more. This is a great, modestly priced "go to" Premier Cru Chablis for the near and intermediate term.

This seems to hit every characteristic I'm looking for in a good Chablis. The first thing I noticed was the touch of creaminess on the nose. It mixes with the brusied apple, ripe stonefruit, and flint of the nose really well. Surprisingly, the briney sea spray aroma is still present among everything else.
The palate is no surprise: simultaneously rich, acidic, and ripe. This was perfect for a hot afternoon. I only coravin'd one glass, but I'll definitely let the bottle breathe for a while whenever I pop the cork.
edit: the creaminess isn't from oak, maybe from malo? Fantastic wine nonetheless.
Vine age 45+yrs Domain dates back to early 19th century, has 3 grand cru & 7 premier cru wines. In the 1960's pioneered stainless steel vinification. Use of indigenous years, goes through malolactic fermentation, aged 12-16mo before bottling. Very little handling - wine is fined/filtered. Complect nose of backed apple, wet stone, & toast!

Beautiful wine that is already quite approachable. Meaty, concentrated, citrusy and saline nose. Bright acidity, very juicy. Lovely. Seems even better on the second day. There is a great juicy-mineral core to this and a finish of great aromatic beauty.

Immediate sense of ripeness one the nose with a solid honeysuckle note. Also brings saline, lemon oil, pear and honey. Subdued other than the honeysuckle. The palate shows somewhat fat in the midpalate. Strong fruit density there. That depth gives this some persistence where the acidity doesn't quite go real long. I find the fruit compelling on its own as the structure feels like just enough to make it work. This fruit though shows potential. If this unfolds it could be quite a showcase. Again, a strong value yet maybe not quite classic Chablis.

Handles the ripeness of the year very well, showing green apple and honeydew and a creamy density of texture buttressed by plenty of classic Chablis oyster-shell minerality. Not classically austere, but plenty of material for aging. Delicious.

Light straw color and medium bodied. Almost painfully tart and lemony. Though medium bodied, the intensity and nearly endless finish give an impression of a wine that has lots of stuffing and likely longevity. I preferred it slightly to the 2019 Montee. I’m thinking it’s one to buy a case of and to hide away 6+ bottles somewhere distant, off-limits, and cold, not to start drinking until @2029+.

Young, but typical Chablis. A bit more creamy than I look for, yet it still has a good acid spine . Very nice.
