  • Just OK. Bit of a bitter note that was distracting, almost toward grapefruit. Fruit on darker side but a bit muted. Certainly can argue opened too soon but seemed open enough. Decanted 2 hours.

  • From a 50 year old parcel sitting right above Clos de Tart, terraced, with extremely shallow topsoil of marl on limestone bedrock

A nice firmness to the fruit. Mostly earth tinged black fruits with some red fruit sprinkled intermittently to brighten it up. Black cherries, plums, boysenberries, raspberries. Fleshy, with good mid palate weight, with a vivid acid core, fine grained tannins. Focused with an earthy backbone with soil tones, moss, green tea, smoked herbs.

    ABV: 13%
    Closure: natural cork
    Stem: Grassl Cru
    Decant: 2h slow ox
Assemblage: 70% whole cluster, short cold maceration before fermentation, rapid de-vatting. Aged for 12 months on fine lees in barrel (20-30% new)
