Third time is the charm. Bought 6 at auction; the first two were premoxed. But I had hope that not all 6 were shot. As I was taking the cork out, I had a sense of redemption. Lovely! Drinking beautifully now. The description from ZWEDER before me, is right on. It does need some air as the first whiffs have some petrol to it. But opens up beautifully. White florals with depth and balance sums it up. I probably won't take any chances with my remaining bottles. Drinking them soon. Fingers crossed.

Weekly tasting group RWP #254: Special wines (@ DJ): Expressive and beautiful bouquet with white flowers and white fruits. Same on the palate. Candy flavors, blossom, some nuts and a good balance between acidity and sweetness. Ready now.

very light in colour. It was interesting comparing this with a 2011 California Chardonnay that was partially used for cooking dinner tonight. This was much more subtle for obvious reasons, but also has more secondary flavours. I really enjoyed the bouquet on this one in comparison. Excellent.

deep yellow, showing extensive development: Crayon, lots of wet chalk in a plastic container but smells more of the tupperware. Streaky, high acidity, lots of chalk little fruit, a odd feel of white peach, yellow over green apple skins but more Granny Smith apple acidity! Seems to be rather evolved, linear to the point of paper thin, some river stones and oyster shell later, clearly was better a few years ago.

Yellow with greenish tint. Fragrant citrus including lime. Ripe lemon fruit and glycerine entry, then a stone and soil filled, bitter pit finish that is more focused and compensates for the relatively low acidity of the vintage. What I admired about this was much more typical Chablis fruit than the distinctly tropical flavors that are present in so many wines from this vintage. Approaching excellent and in an optimal drinking window, I think.
Second night after being in the fridge, even brighter, more orange scented fruit, but still good, firm back end structure. Impressive staying power and really one of the more successful 2006 Chablis I've had.

In a good drinking zone right now. Nose has fresh white fruits with citrus peel notes. Palate is steely with a cutting acidity and crisp fruit in harmony. Long mineral-driven finish. Classic Chablis.

Started out nice but slightly oaky with air and time the oak notes blew off. A beautiful bottle of Chablis classic palate cleansing finish and long paired beautifully with shrimp risotto. One of the best '06s I've had.

This took three hours to wake up and still had some lemon balm notes that in my mind equates to chemical. This resulted in a vigorous conversation about Fevre and general conversation about chemical use in wine. This is a long string of disappointments from Fevre including dumb wines and premox. Granted this is better than most chardonnay on the market but for the money, name recognition and designation I was not thrilled. I also do not think this wine's issues will be resolved with age.

Completely different and far better than the flabby bottle earlier this year. Proper, typical lemon and chalk. Medium weight. Good acidity. Definitely Chablis and a surprisingly overperforming '06 at that. Ah, the variability of wine...

I have no idea what drwine2001 had in his glass on 23.05.2011. Perhaps it was heat damaged? My bottle was in pristine condition: reliable provenance, excellent real cork. Its contents are - alas - hardly inspiring, but definitely Chablis, definitely Old World, and definitely not "tropical". A biting sting of SO2 heralds a skinny chalky Chablis nose, a thin entry (which fattened up after 2 hours airing and on achieving room temperature) and a pleasant, lingering lemony-chalky finish. Right at the end there is a teeny-weeny-itsy-bitsy hint of maracuja, which might be what drwine2001 was refering to. Complexity? Duh. Elegance? Perhaps. Delicious? No. I'm with my cellar buddy Benj on this one (CT TN 17.06.2010). Did I really pay 28 GBP retail for this experience? 85P

Yellow. Ripe, toasty tropical fruit. Three further years of aging have only accentuated the fat side of this wine and minimized any Chablis character. This might as well be New World Chardonnay. Serve it cold to bring out its acidity.

Served initially too cold. Once warmed up it displayed a nice floral bouquet. Medium finish with tart fruit and some minerality. Still a bit tight, suggesting it will improve.

Very good wine all in finesse but could not help but be disappointed by the lack of substance of the wine. I found the aromas to be much too weak and lacking in power.

Hmmm ... pop and pour and bottle was consumed too quickly to blossom. Tight nose with just a hint of white fruit. Medium bodied palate is all acid, verve and tension. Never had a chance to fill out and balance. I'm certain this would've been better with time / air.

Wine Education Service - Chablis is Chic (LSE): This was a defective bottle but initially had a great nose, delicate lime with strong mineral notes. But then the taste - so disappointing, horribly musty. What was interesting here was that the nose didn't betray that the bottle was "off" until some time later when the mustiness became evident there too.

White flowers, crushed oysters shells, beeswax on the nose. This is angular at first, with a crisp and citric entry, mouth-watering acidity, and fine length. It opened up in the glass, showing ripe (yet tart) white orchard fruit and a lovely minerality on the finish. A limpid and refreshing wine, that, while ripe, is achingly chablis.

lifted, aromatic nose of sea breeze, wet rocks, white flowers. a bit round and less precise than the nose. medium intensity and finish. enjoyable wine, has balance, but to make it a very good wine would have been better with a bit longer and more focus. this was a bit better than i'd have expected for its level. but wonders if this would've been even better if it were made in a more classic vintage (instead of the warm 06)

Like the Michel Montee de Tonnerre, rich and surprisingly forward, but this has more prominent and typical iodine aromatics in addition to a tropical fruit element. Long but soft.
