This wine was seriously seriously funky tonight, all throughout. The nose was incredibly dark in complexion. The palate was very soft in texture, but had this really odd funky richness. Totally weird. Funky and tart on the puckering finish. Tons of acidity, but a little off putting. This isn't showing any of the beauty that I had with my bottle from 2013. I don't believe these wines are sulfured and I worry that they've lost themselves. I'll be popping another bottle soon to check in. Doesn't make sense that it'd have lasted 8 years so beautifully and then completely fallen dead at 10, though.

last bottle summer night and wanted lighter red although not sure that's what I got barnyard on the nose and very dark red color and no signs of age still rather tannic, a bit tart and some sourness as described below..this is old school and no dressed up wall of fruit here pleased a lot of people

From a 500ml. This is impenetrably dark, nearly black. It pours like ink. This practically smells like ink. Very dark aromas, heavy on the chalk and graphite, a blackberry sauce reduction, and road tar. The aromas feel amazingly heavy. The palate entry is intensely vibrant and bright, with high toned acidity, minerality, and succulent strawberries. Holy cow, what a odd differentiation between the aromas and what comes here. Things are nearly lean actually, on the medium-light body, showing some horse funk, delicious sweet mushrooms, graphite, minerals and a ridiculous exuberance and lightness that's completely contrary to what I expected based on the aromas and color. My initial impression on the finish is of bitter pure cacao and then more high tones, with a wollop of sweet funky sourness that completely coats the throat. The tongue tingles in a kind of alcoholic way, but there's no notion of alcohol, just gnarly sourness and acid and huge amounts of mushrooms cooked in truffle oil. This is one of the sourest wines I've had, but in a wholly pleasurable way. What a fun experience this wine is!

Very nice cassis fruit, brilliant acidity, grippy tannins. Unlike some 2005 cab francs, the tannins do not clench down on the finish, making this fairly approachable now.

Score is more for interestingness rather than pleasure. Tons of sediment. Too young, need to try again in 3-4 years.
