Third and final bottle over the last year or so, this was the best one by far. I think if I had more I’d hold them for quite some time. It’s a nice easy drinking tasty wine, better with some air and good QPR.

I found it rather bitter initially but after it has had time to breath is a nicely balanced wine. For me the aroma of Grenache comes through over everything else and it is only 30%, with 65% Syrah. I drank this with a cheese platter and it was a good accompaniment.

Like a very good Cote du Rhone with good+ weight and richness, nicely displaying both Syrah and Grenache character in very nice harmony. Clearly ripe, while well balanced, even if on the simple side. Good value wine.

J said: "Smells like old ass funk upon opening." By the time I got to it, 30 minutes larer, all I could smell were the aromatics, possibly mainly from the 5% Counoise. The 65% old vine Syrah grown on granit becomes noticeable as well upon further swirling, whereas the 30% sixty year old Grenache grown on sandy terrain seems to come at the forefront on the palate. A fun wine overall that was well worth the under $30 price tag. 14. 5% ABV. 88-89

Blackberry, lavender, garrigue, creosote. Dark, bold, grippy and bitter, this has excellent depth of flavor but may not be for everyone. I really love how bitter it is. I've never had a New World GSM that committed to this kind of bold structure, they are all polished and cloyingly sweet.
After rating this I see James Suckling gave it 96 pts. confirming once again my rubric of always subtracting 4 points from every JS review.

Double decant. Red and black fruits. Smokey, meaty and peppery. Full bodied. Very new world Rhône. licorice and rubber. short finish. A bit overdone maybe. good qpr. Don’t love it right now.

A bit young -- needs quite a bit of air if drinking now. Cherries and blueberries on the nose. Lots of fruit on the palette. Full-bodied, quite tannic. Needs food/red meat.

Moderate musky anise nose. Medium bodied, nice fruit and chalk, a bit too much acid and a thin finish. Still enjoyable.
