  • Deep blackish ruby color. The nose consists of dark plum / prune, red berries, hibiscus, violet, leather, cedar, peppers - good combination of deep and high-pitched/floral, almost reminds of Northern Rhone Syrah (I was expecting southern rhone instead, a good surprise!). In the mouth, the wine is tart and focused, tannins are medium and well balanced, acidity is vivid/linear/refreshing. Definitely medium-body, but there is some magnetic depth to the finish, again like good syrah, while fragrant tartness reminds of Gredos Garnacha too. Stayed consistently good over 6 days, and eventually it gained mysterious charms of balsamic sauce / underbrush / barnyard. Very Old-world and a steal for the price around $25. 91-92.

  • I'm getting this locally for $13...stupid good! 39% Grenache, 39% Mourvèdre, 22% Syrah...this wine is all about the red fruited pretties, that took off running through the briar patch! Silky smooth and bright raspberry, cherry, boysenberry fruits...not as high toned and spicy with volcanic dirt as the 14 was...creamy and more subdued...subtle pepper spice, smoked meat, leather, garrigue...that wonderful crushed volcanic rock and saline minerality...red licorice dryness...really creamy and in CdR mode...easy drinkin and totally crushable! And LOVE that this is a current release from the winery!

  • Really like this one. Notes made three days on, but it was a solid Rhone mimic from CA.

  • Always a great wine at a great price. Grenache dominant Rhône blend. An elevated midweek drinker.

  • A nice surprise last night and a solid match with charcuterie. Well done and drinking in a good spot now at 7 years. I should have bought more as this is a homerun, well priced, and food friendly.
