  • I can't say this bottle was flawed, but it certainly felt like it had aged prematurely. The round mouthfeel hid the acidity, and there was a faint but persistent bitter note in the mid palate. I wonder if this bottle came from the bottom of the barrel.

  • Notes from second day and from a half bottle. Nose is still a little tight, but has reductive matchstick notes, lemon citrus, flint, crushed rock, white flowers. Palate is more open but has similar flavors. Medium+ acidity gives it a lean, taut profile, which I love. I missed this is 750's, but my local shop got a bunch in 375's and I can see myself buying a lot of these for drinking over the next 5-7+ years. In a standard sized bottle, I think this will go 10-15 years from the vintage. I don't have a lot of experience with how wines age in half bottles, so I am wary of holding this too long, but at $22 full retail for a half bottle I can see myself drinking a lot of these.

  • Lemon, floral, with chalky minerality. Med body, med+ acidity, and a long bitter and mineral finish. One of my favorite Willamette Chardonnay producers.

  • Another delicious time with this wine. It’s exactly what I’m looking for when I reach for a classically styled Oregon Chardonnay. Reductive, but not flinty, clean, crisp with lemon and sliced Anjou pear and a fresh line of acidity. Intense, concentrated, and long. Delicious wine.

  • This was really excellent, needed about 45 min to open up and the last glass was surely the best. Strikes a beautiful balance between a round almost buttery mouthfeel, with ample verve and acidity. Really clean and right down the fairway in terms of profile, no exoticism or overripened fruit tones here.

  • Compared to the 2021 this has significantly more color. Medium gold leading to believe that saw it different elevage. But who really knows with wine, it kind of does whatever it wants. I took one sip of this a new the crew was going to be all over it. Has medium weight, I had to caramel at the finish. This is classic Chardonnay. Fans of burgundy in a rounded out style will love this one.

  • This was really good, even though I didn't follow my notes from the previous bottle re: decanting. Popped and poured and followed over a couple of hours on its own and with sushi.

The expansive mid-palate continues to be the star. It is just superb. The acid showed up a bit earlier than my previous bottle in March 2022.

Give it 30-60 mins of air if you can. Alternatively, pour out 8 oz into a Pyrex cup 2-3 hrs before tasting, then pour it back in and put the bottle in the fridge.

    Really really good!

  • Similar impressions as the other tasters. Taut, tart, lemon, fairly intense. Some reduction and mineral notes. I liked this, but Ann didn’t. It was too tart and citrusy for her.

  • Really enjoyable and very drinkable right now. Mineral inflected nose with still a tinge of reduction. Grilled lemon, pear, coconut, honeysuckle and frangipane. Great concentration on the attack and mid-palate, but finishes a bit shorter than I'd like. Didn't stop the whole bottle from being consumed in an evening though.

  • -- decanted for 2 hrs. before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 2 hrs. on Day 1; revisited on Day 6 --

NOSE: medium-light reduction; coconut; lemon confit, mixed with a touch of pear; mouthwatering aromas. On Day 6, the reduction and coconut were gone, and it was otherwise just "very light."

BODY: light maize color; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: oooooh! ... nice combination of intense fruit, background mineral, and lemon curd; 12.0% alc. not noticeable; interesting and compelling intensity of flavor married to a lightness-of-foot; tasty now, but I'd bet on improvement with a few years in the cellar. On Day 6, this was still very nice: lots of mineral; medium-light fruit (and the fruit is on the brighter end of the spectrum); light oak note; medium+ to high acidity. Excellent.

  • Chardonnay with DC Dudes [goodfellow, laroche, Knez, guillemot michel, soliste] (DeeCee Columbia Heights): Pale yellow. Intense smoky nose with a bit of toast and citrus. Palate is quite dense and has loads of depth and persistence and tension to the green apple and lemon curd flavors. This has a great spine to it as well and was an absolute pleasure.

  • This was great. Minimally reduced, but clean notes of river stone and fresh squeezed lemon. Such clarity and varietal purity. Low pH (idk relative to other Goodfellow but this was tart and refreshing af). Really enjoyed and has a long runway. We just like drinking them too much.

  • Oh boy. Asian pear, wet jasmine, lemon oil, quince. So fresh and light on its feet on opening, building richness with air. Mineral and Always taut and beautifully held, fizzing with energy, mineral, fresh, and never intrusive. Annora loved this wine, which in a Chardonnay is a great compliment and indicates a level of verve, freshness, and delicacy that can be difficult to find. 12%, $40.

  • Ginger and white peach, really sharp acidity with nice weighty substance underneath. Well enjoyed and I like this style of Oregonian Chardonnay a great deal

  • Tasted on day 3. White peach. Zesty acidity. Plenty of verve and lift on the mid palate. This was closed on day 1 but now is open for business. Long finish for a chard. Some saline.

  • Drank on 3/10 with a languid dinner of cheeses and cured meats.

IMURHUCKLEBERRY's description of the nose, a "waxy citrusy can't-quite-place-what-I'm-smelling-but-I-dig-it" is right on.

I did not decant, however, which was a mistake. The nose was still great and the mouth feel was medium for my palate. The midpalate was the star, with an oily-in-a-nice-way texture. It took a couple hours for the acid to come out, which caused the (low) alcohol to come through a bit on the finish.

Once the acid arrived, the last 1/3 of the bottle was deliciously well balanced. It was quite nice to enjoy this wine over the course of several hours.

I suggest decanting for 2 hours+ and serving at 55 degrees. Save a glass for the second day if you can.

I decanted the 2019 Whistling Ridge Chardonnay and poured half a glass just to get an initial impression. The nose reminds me of a White Bordeaux blend, with that kind of waxy citrusy can't-quite-place-what-I'm-smelling-but-I-dig-it profile I get from a lot of those wines. It tastes tart and citrusy, certainly acid is present in this bottle from the get go, but I think it does need some air to open up and give more.

After 2 hours it had picked up weight and intensity, and was delicious. A little bit of lemon cream, and still tart and lean overall.

Abut 5 hours I could pick up a really interesting scent that reminded me of one of those pungent seed spices, like reminiscent of caraway. I really didn't want to drink the last half glass because I just wanted to keep smelling it.

  • my first 19 SV goodfellow chard and wow this is phenomenal. It takes 2.5 hours of air to get there but once this comes around, wow! asian pear, salted lemons, flint/crushed rocks, crushed nuts, white florals, honey comb, cream, and a touch of shiso. mod- to light+ body but with great cut and persistence on the palate that follows the nose. love it

  • Pop and pour.
Enjoyed while prepping for dinner and then with food (fettucine a fatta en cassa, en sugo di nduja e pomodoro, in case you were wondering).
    Light straw color.
Nose offers lemon oil, almond notes, and touch of pear. Light flinty note too.
Good mouthfeel, with lemon oil, some unripe pear and almond skin.
    Lots going on.
Has a touch of lanolin along with the bright citrus fruit elements.
    Quite tasty.
    Poof...bottle empty.

  • More floral and lifted than the Durant. Sweet tart, lemon confit, jasmine, and pear on the nose. Mid weighted and little softer around the edges than the Durant. A floral and fresh fruit driven nose. Light to mid weighted. Very pretty if a little less detailed than the Durant. Still outstanding. A hint of wood spice adds to the mineral-soil stony notes, along with pretty citrus and pear notes, jasmine florals and sweet tart. Graceful and pretty if less focused than the Durant. It suffers only in comparison to the Durant, which for me is terrific. 92

  • So last week I tried the Berserker Cuvee and the Temperance Vineyard side by side, and today I’m doing the Whistling Ridge and Richard’s Cuvee, also from the same vineyard. Tasty, and tart white fruit on the palate. I am enjoying this.
