Tannins mostly resolved. Wine is balanced and enjoyable. Not memorable but well made. Drank over 2 days and day 2 the wine had degraded a bit. Recommend drinking now.

dark purple in the glass with no signs of age on the rim. wild and exotic nose. mostly cherry fruit on the palate with med+ acidity. i'm thinking this is past peak and on the way down. still quite tasty, but tannins fully resolved and probably on the way down

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.
Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of violets, black berries and plums. Flavors of boysenberry, black berry and a bit of dried plum. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink over the next few years.

Delicate cranberry, rhubarb, orange peel aromatics that are reminiscent of their Pinot bottlings. Tangy allspice, smoky bacon, cherry, raspberry palate that is mature and brief, if on the ethereal side. Pretty good.

This has changed a little since my last note. Vanilla bean, fresh red berries & bacon fat on the intoxicating nose. This is almost like drinking fresh berries & cream, without sugar, with a little spice and tar flavors mixed in. Lovely delicious wine, with a nice sweetness in the mid palate, just a hint of tannin, and a tarry finish. Delightful, in a good place now, but I'm not sure this is built for the long haul.

A Rhone-style syrah from a cool climate. A very smooth, velvety, wine that melts in your mouth with no hard edges. Sweet fruit with a tinge of bitterness and pepper on the finish.

Cool climate syrah, some medium red fruit and white pepper on the nose. Somewhat thin palate, some sour undertones as with previous bottles. I don't get it.

At times, I just loved it. But, I would notice a funkiness (not that bad, but made the wine a bit off) at times- particularly on the nose. A real good core of flavors though. A few years could help this wine a lot. (Please read this before I open one to early).

From a half bottle, this has just a little interesting funk on the nose, with some olive and a background of crushed berries, then a wash of deep, intense boysenberry/pomegranate fruit, piercing acidity, restrained in its ripeness level while having no lack of dept and flavor concentration. Finish could be a bit longer, but overall this is just a fantastic syrah in the cool climate style. I doubt this would be picked out in a lineup of quality Cote Rotie wines, has a lot in common with the 05 Ogier (maybe a bit less oak).

Decanted and drank first half bottle over a few hours. Nice cool climate syrah nose of olives and meat upon opening. On the palate this is in an odd phase right now. Potential is clearly there but oak is clearly predominant on first night, especially after it was open for a half our or so. Finish is very nice though, with some acidity to finish it off. Put back in the bottle and recorked. The next night the fruit really came out and oak integrated much better. This is much bigger wine than I originally though, but very well balanced. I would suggest letting these lie for at least 5 more years. Will revisit in 2015 at the earliest.

Wow, don't understand some negative notes here, but to me this was a fantastic syrah! Decanted for 1 hour. Soaring, sweet red berries and incense on the nose. Incredible balance and length, fruit is subtle but it's there--more like a northern rhone style--hints of spice and earth, lovely finish. Tannins are in check. After a while it took on just a hint of a creamy texture. Just so easy to drink and paired well with pasta with red peppers, sausage, garlic and olive oil. Cool climate syrah, don't expect gobs of fruit and oak influence. Loved this!

Stinky nose - took an hour to taper off. Light contours and austere. Too tart, sharp and stemmy. Really disappointed with this bottle as I am a big fan of Peay. Will revisit tomorrow but not encouraged by todays showing. Enjoyed Bruma more.

a little awkward and austere. finish is best part. initial attack a little insufficient. made better w/ seafood. seems a little odd and fragile. have to pass at $50 from here on out.

Fruit flavors, but a subtle Syrah, as you might expect from a north coast vineyard. Tannins in the background, so very drinkable now. At Shokolatt with friends.
