Blackberries, chocolate mousse, acacia, cherries and wet tobacco. Full-bodied and a long, savory finish. Very approachable and attractive. Cottony tannins; there’s a lot of flesh. Similar to the ‘09. Drink now - 2038.

2020 Château Lascombes - A classic in the making. This Margaux never disappoints, boasting some baby fat that will inevitably shed as it matures, while maintaining its overall soft, round personality. Will it shut down? Quite lovely

Still quite oaky at the moment, so it takes a little effort to find its floral, spice and dark cherry essence. Round-in-texture with a lush, opulent, albeit, oaky finish, perhaps with time, the wood will become better integrated. Drink from 2025-2045.

Lascombes is a little big but I still love it - purple fruit, violetty, powdery, lavender. Fullish palate. Pretty tannic; this will take some time to soften and the oak will need to integrate. 91-94 depending on how this breaks.

At the UGC Chicago. Nice fragrance mainly fruit, somewhat muted flavors on the palate and a moderate finish of 5 seconds. Lacks the silky structure that I found in my favorite wines tasted this evening. I have enjoyed the 2003 vintage of this wine and have a sense that the 2020 needs time to integrate and evolve before showing it’s best. Still- nice at this early stage.

(55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 13.5% Alkohol) Expressiv, fein, floral, dunkelfruchtig, etwas Zartbitterschokolade, Süssholt. November 2022 in Zürich) www.vvwine.ch

2027-2040 (April/Mai 2021) vvWine.ch

Full-bodied, round, lush, rich and polished, the fruit is ripe, sweet and intense. But there is a strong oak component in the finish that is going to need time to integrate. 90-92

Violets and toast on the nose, with a herby edge to rich black fruit, and a little red fruit liqueur too. The palate is tight and toasty, good intensity but feels tough and has a very firm chalky grip. Firm, and a little miserly.

Is this a bit okay now? Sure. Will it integrate? Undoubtedly. It’s French oak, people.
Rich and sumptuous after a few hours in the decanter. Highly tannic, to be expected. Blackberry pie, mocha, spice, earth.

UGCB tasting Bordeaux 2020 Walkaround tasting so in general just short notes (Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.): Beautiful and luxurious bouquet with good oak and cedar, smoke and dark berries. Same on the palate juicy dark berry acidity and round but firm tannin. Beautiful wine. 93+

The 2020 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 03/06/2023 (Amsterdam): A bit severe CS styled, but it also give character to the wine, sufficient concentration and a bit angular in the finish; not so Margaux-like for me.
