The 2020 Smith Haut Lafitte blanc is a really nice rendition of this wine, clean and classic, showing good volume of white peach, pineapple, and lemon curd. Pleasantly mouth-filling. Score deferred as I tasted this after the reds.

Dieser Wein machte mich schlicht sprachlos und ich benote ihn noch höher, als En Primeur. Ungemein tiefgründig und nobel, rauchige noten paaren sich mit kühler Terroirnote, Kiesel- und Feuerstein, weisse Blüten, harzige Aromen, Zitrus von Blütenhonig und Nadelholz. Im Auftakt mit viel Druck, wird dann immer eleganter, cremiger Schmelz, frische Säure, das hat Dichte und Kraft, jedoch kein Gramm Fett, ein Seiltänzer, kontrolliert, strukturiert, mit salzigem Finish. Arvi Bordeaux 2020 Arrivage (Dolder Grand, Zurich): Bordeaux 2020 Arrivage tasting. Key observations: 1/ Tannins were generally soft and well-integrated, but still left room for structure, 2/ fruit generally ripe and well-defined, no over-extraction, 3/ all appellation were showing great, but if I had to pick out then it would be Paulliac, 4/ top wines were Petit Village (completely unexpected, 97) and Lynch Bages (96).
Tasting note: Nicely defined gooseberry fruit, an array of floral notes, mineral accents. Palate was crisp but with texture to it. A bitterish aftertaste keeps me from going higher.

Tasting: Tried next to the chateau Margaux pavillion blanc 2020, and I thought this wine was better. Heaviley oaked - almost too much - and with quite a lot of charachter.

94-96 vvPunkte Tiefgründige Nase, leicht rauchig, kühle Kieselsteine, wirkt in diesem Stadium zurückhaltender, diskreter als Petit Haut Lafitte, öffnet sich mit etwas Zeit und Luft, zeigt Anflüge von Blütenhonig und Nadelholz. Im Gaumen druckvoll, einerseits mit viel Cremigkeit, Schmelz und einer gut integrierten Säure, andererseits mit viel Biss und einem herrlichen Zug, wird gegen Ende immer saftiger und schlanker, hinterlässt im Abgang eine feine, salzige Note. With the pop of grapefruit, white peach, lemon peel, flowers, orange rind and honeysuckle in the nose, and a creamy, sweet, fresh, juicy, slightly honeyed, lush, white peach and citrus finish, you have all the ingredients needed for a luscious, white Bordeaux wine. Fenugreek touches, bright and linear – quite crisp, notes of tonic, sherbet and rose. Good intensity, lots of lean, spice and peach. Less ‘texture’ but silky, fragrant pineapple fruit, long creamy finish. Long.

Deeper appearance Toasty, rich and more savoury style on the nose, a little waxiness and oily citrus; some fatness and depth. This feels languid (I know this isn't the right word...) and rich on the palate, a bigger style, with good intensity and peppery spices. Expressive and stimulating with a long dry finish.
