  • Might be drinking this too young. A powerful and dominant wine, but waiting on it might be a good idea.

  • Drinking very well land should improve with additional bottle age.

  • Coravined a glass last week, opened the bottle tonight. Tasted over several hours on multiple days. The wine is a dark, opaque ruby crimson. 13,5% ABV on label. This looks very dense but the nose and palate are more elegant and lilting than expected. Not sure how it was aged but I seem to detect a decent amount of new oak on the nose along with red florals, boysenberry, ripe plum and some black tea. Palate has very light tannin, moderate acidity but just enough for it to be lively. Slightly bitter and a little one dimensional on the finish when not enjoyed with food. Very good with lean flank steak. This seemed better with about 20-30 minutes of air in the glass. Touriga Nacional by itself is pretty good and a bit more complex than Tempranillo for example but still better as a blending grape in my opinion. Looking to have a few more unblended wines to confirm. Probably only a mid-term ager, say 10-12 years to full potential.

p.s. Another tasting note shows 30% new oak aging over 16 months, which seems consistent.

  • 16 months in French oak barriques, 30% new.

Almost black colour. 1h decant in the glass, which was too short. Hence, oak and tannins were dominant.
Much better on day 2. Silky and complex palate with blackberries, tannins, oak, and cigar box. Somewhat fresh as well (5.3 g/L TA vs 0.6 g/L RS). Long finish.
Parker rated 93p and this Douro wine might get there if you wait for a while.
