2 years later and my last bottle this is still an interesting but strange wine. Almost more like an orange wine. Grapefruit and orange on the palate which are unexpected, but also strawberries, watermelon, even some baby aspirin. What a mix! It kept me thinking, but it is not a chill on the deck kind of rose.
Agree with the notes below on this being strawberry-dominated (almost like pink starburst) with some citrus-like acid to largely keep things in check. I felt this was best closer to cellar temp.

one year on from release. Still absolutely dominated by strawberry on the nose, with strawberry and lemon notes on the tongue, but also having developed a bit of sweet creaminess which plays really well with the fruit. With some air a little blood orange emerges. Really delicious and refreshing on a warm day.

Very light color, almost pink. The palate is much lighter than the D&R Syrah rosé. Smooth and gentle, fairly interesting. Maybe not my preferred style of rosé--I like Bandols, which have a bit more bite. But well made and pleasant to drink, fairly compelling. Held up fine under N2 for one night at least. After two more days under N2 it's getting even more interesting. Guess it needs a long decant to really come to life right off.

Fun wine. Gulpably delicious. More florals and complexity on day 2. Ideal for hot weather and could see buying this in case quantities for the summer. Then again I haven’t tried the Syrah yet. . .

My first D&R rose, and it delivers in a big way. Color is like a Salmon egg that drank some pink lemonade. Palate Is on the more full-flavored end of the rose spectrum - packed full of candied watermelon, strawberry and lime, with a hit of chili salt maybe, a ton of mineral tension and juicy acid. Classic D&R joie de vivre - sleek and joyful like a river otter playing in a waterfall. Certainly one of the best CA roses, along with Tercero and Sabelli-Frisch. J says, we need like 10 cases of this. 92
On day 2, this has shifted towards a more contemplative direction, with added depth and savoriness, if at the expense of a bit of exuberance. Still just as good, just different. 92

This was a really interesting rose. I enjoyed drinking it but can’t decide if I liked it. Heavier than your typical rose, with an experience of a mix of fruits that I haven’t typically experienced together—grapefruit, watermelon, strawberry. A hint of sweetness, a hint of bitterness. I am not sure what to make of it. I will need to drink more bottles to form an opinion!!! Meanwhile, my daughter loved it.
pure watermelon and strawberry nose. The watermelon holds on the palate, but the Syrah shows through with texture and a little pepper. I drank this around the campfire which was a perfect pairing.

Very pretty, light salmon color. I get some green apple and floral notes on the nose. It's light color betrays the serious cut and verve of the wine. Rocky and cool right now, there are black pepper notes and a longish finish. This is no delicate rose. It was just terrific alongside a shrimp boil with some fresh shrimp from Goatfeathers.

This bottle seemed past it. Soft and not very interesting.
After a week in the fridge under N2 it had picked up a bit of steam. But that was it.
