Personally, I feel this bottle is showing all its best, fully mature and at its peak, got all the ingredients of great Meursault, especially the nose and sweet minerals on the palate is simply sublime!

Starting to see the age of the wine, which is being shown in the colour, the nose is full of white stone fruits, peach, apricot, distinctive sweet chalky mineral fruits, rich, sweet palate, a hint of meatiness! Great stuff!

Gold in colour! Exceptionally beautiful nose of white stones, mineral and a touch of chalky nutty flavour, an immense joy to inhale! Perfectly judged acidity on the palate, a hint of sweetness and nuttiness, echoing the nose rightly! Can drink it alone or you may pair it with grilled chicken, fish! Make sure it is nicely grilled! Cheers!

Really great. Approaching straw yellow color. Nose featured stone, saline, lanolin, vanilla and white&citrus fruit. The latter was less evident until it warmed up and caught some air. Bright and penetrating on the palate, giving a sense of complexity and poise. Fantastic with pan seared cod and roasted squash. Just the right fruit weight and acid presence to compliment. At 10 years old, this is just great in my book. Has plenty of time left but my other bottle will likely be drunk in the next year.

Light yellow in colour! Now this turns out to something really special! Spectacular nose! Vanilla bean, grilled nuts, coconut oil and of course, ripe stony white fruits! Brilliant! Still a little tight on the palate! Very refreshing, the acidity is just perfect! It will evolve without doubt! Still insist it will be better in few years time, more complexity awaiting! Very classy! Very adorable! love it!

Wow! I posted a tasting note a couple of days ago expressing the weird nose on this wine. Thought I'd open up another bottle to see what that was like and this is a different ball game altogether. Mid gold in colour, the bouquet is wonderfully effusive with citrus and green apple notes. On the mid-weight palate everything about this wine is utterly brilliant. The flavours are tight as a drum, the structure is balanced and focussed with an incredible linear backbone of lemon running through it like a laser guided missile. This almost more like a great Grand Cru Chablis than a Meursault. And what an emphatic finish too. At nearly ten years of age it is still remarkably fresh and youthful and as long as premox doesn't turn up any time soon should be good for a few years yet. An impressive wine by any standards. If there is a negative point to be made it's that in my limited experience with Pierre Matrot there is quite a bit of bottle variation (see earlier tasting note for example), but on this showing there are few 1er Cru Burgs that can beat it. Estimated maturity: 2014-2020.

On this showing this is a seriously weird wine! I have never had a nose like this on any other white Burgundy. It was savoury in a game and fried bacon kind of way. If I was smelling this blind I may even have said it was a red wine. That aside, this is a beautifully constructed Meursault. A lovely gold in colour, medium weight, beautifully balanced combined with a refreshing citrus backbone and a fine finish. Despite being nearly 10 years old it also required plenty of breathing, a good 30 minutes, during which time it's character and complexity changed considerably, although not that nose. Sorry to go on about it; it wasn't remotely oxidised so not sure why on earth it was like this. It wasn't faulty, just plain weird and it wasn't just me, the others present felt the same. Look forward to the next bottle to see if it was a 'one off'. Estimated maturity: 2012-2016

See previous note. Wonderful aromas are revealed after the initial reduction. White flowers, minerals. The palate is typical burgundy, and enhanced by wonderful balance and length. This bottle was exemplary.

Dinner at Oscillate Wildly (Oscillate Wildly, Sydney): Quite fresh on the nose, it starts of with lemon, green apple and white florals and is followed by some pistachio as perhaps the only sign that it has much age on it. The palate has a richness that also has drive behind it and there is a saline streak that I adore in this type of wine. I don't think it is a bottle for extreme long term aging but it is showing so well now and should continue over the shorter-medium term. One of the best bottles I've had from this producer.

Start with a green apple scent. In my mouth, fresh acid with powerful body and salty at the end. After 2 hours, seem yo be oakey with strong salt at the end. Ready to enjoy now.

Deep yellow color. Initially a lot of reduction and matchstick aromas. THis faded with air. Very expressive nose. Minerality and saline notes. Very good fresh finish. Classic Perrieres profile.

Lemon curd, saline, some mineral/stone also. Delicious. Initially the flavours were intense enough to produce saliva in the mouth. Lovely bottle, and on this effort, you could recommend cellaring for a few more years.

This could be slightly oxidized. Nose was off and the palate was great on the attack and through the middle, rich and creamy, but left an aftertaste of bleach. Had to be an off bottle.

Gorgeous effort for such a warm vintage. Alcohol not dominant as I thought might happen. Very long finish. Fruit still bright, no signs of fading. This will be a long lived Mersault...

Burg Dinner At The Murray Casa (The Murray's): Toasty note, even a bit buttery? Creamy lime, yet finishes with acidity. Toasted nuts, spicy lime. Was not my favorite of the flight.

Solid but pale yellow-gold. Powerfully saline, marine, mineral and floral nose. Almost painfully intense on the attack - bushels of fruit, stony soil and a thick texture, given exquisite shape and focus by very firm acid for a 2005, with an eerily persistent finish. Broader, more glyceral and more succulent than the 2004 version but remains in balance. Wonderful stuff.

This started out fairly buttery and thick. But it gained focus on the nose and palate with some time open. There is certainly a lot of material there, but for my palate it's got enough firm structure to hang it all on. Delightful pairing with gorgonzola cream sauce.

87 at the moment I tasted! Just a bottle of pure lime-juice. But the nose is marvellous, toasty bread...honey..... The palate is absolutely TIGHT. Will spend years sitting in the cellar. I think it will be a 95 in 8 to 10 years.

Way more material to this than there was to the 2004, and while the flavors remain mild with a real transparent pebbly sensation, the density is almost too much. The alcoholic warmth on the finish tastes spirity and makes this too taxing to drink.
