Round, smooth, full-bodied dark cherry fruit with loads of acid and minerality, oaky and leathery flavors, tannins ample, excellent structure, thick viscosity, medium finish, fruit seems restrained by the acid, very enjoyable wine

Big wine right out the gates. Youthful with blackberry fruit flavors, long finish and tannins still resolving. First bottle out of a case that had been tucked away in the cellar. A clear winner which should be enjoyed over the next 2 years.

The last bottle of my case of 99 Capezzana. Sigh. A wonderful wine that will be fondly remembered. A house pour when we lived outside Florence, we used to buy it for 11-13 Euro per bottle. A bit hard to evaluate, actually. The distinctive bramble, spice, black fruits, and clove nose was there, the color was still as deep and rich as ever, but this was a pop and pour moment for a wine that probably would have benefitted from 30-40 minutes of air. So it wasn't giving away much at first, and by the time it was really showing its stuff, we were about done (5 people sharing the bottle for dinner). Ah well. It was our daughter's first dinner home after leaving for college, and she had her roommate and a high school buddy with her. An occassion that warranted the bottle, even if we didn't do it full justice.

At first, this bottle seemed a bit off. Not giving away much. Wondered if it were over the hill. Drank two small glasses, corked it and put it back in the fridge. Next day it had been transformed. Deep purple-black, sangiovese dominates the nose, slightly grainy tanins that are still holding the fruit at bay -- perhaps more so than two years ago. Becoming deeper and more complex. Soft finish. Very satisfying, especially for a 13 Euro wine.

One of my favorite everyday wines, and this one lived up to its strong track record. Deep purple-blueberry, beginning to shed baby fat but still full of primary fruit. Great for $13 in Italy.

corked. The second bad bottle in a row. Not my night. But this is the first bottle from this producer I've ever had that was corked. And I drink this pretty regularly.

Very cloudy rusty purple. Aroma of musty dark fruit and earth. Full body with decent balance and finish.
