  • Bryant's Send Off Party (Noreetuh): This bottle is incredibly tight with yoghurt flavors and very little house style. Overripe fruit underneath. I think it is a phase for the vintage that they are just awkward now; perhaps time will help. 90

  • Drank the same wine almost a year ago, at the same location. It is as good as the last bottle, super expressive, beautiful stage to enjoy this wine, showing strong minerality, citrus fruits, and acidity was precise and lingering. I always like Vaillons and feel that it is more expressive than other 1er cru, not sure if it is because Vaillons location at the upper left bank of Chablis?
We also had a 2008 Dauvissaut Le Clos side by side, in the beginning, Dauvissut seems riper on the nose and palate, got some lemon oil and citrus cream, interestingly, over next 6 hours, it evolved into an elegant beauty with nice salinity, white peaches, white pepper, offering concentrated yet layers of acidity and spices on the finish.

  • Bought it off menu from Robuchon.
Super expressive, lemon peel, modest creaminess citrus butter, oyster shell, light honey and very herbal nose, on the palate, deep structure with lots of things going on, strong minerals, wet stone, creamy oyster, Rav’s distinctive herbal sensation. Love it.

  • Overperformer for a Vaillons. Strength of Raveneau in the vintage comes through in the combination of depth and precision in wine where one does not typically expect it. Pristine bottle.

  • 2002 Raveneau Chablis was a beautiful wine with crushed stone, lemon peel, stone fruit and gun powder. Palate was precise and long with plenty of acidity. The layers and acidty bursted out with time in the glass. Lots of things going on. Time has really toned down the chablis salinity and created a harmonious expression between terroir and Raveneau’s wine-making style. It can age easily for another 10-15 years given the acidity profile. 93+

  • bright clear pale lemon skin gold; nose is brackish & tidal pool, w/yellow orchard fruits; med+ bodied & intense; quite mineral, quinine, not as fat as anticipated, chalk dust, lemon pith, superb length. a rewarding bottle, worth holding, but don't see it improving substantially. married well w/ the crabs as expected, but the avocado played a great counterpoint.

va. softshell crab w/bread 'n butter pickle remoulade; roasted local carrots w/cumin & orange, avocado

  • Clear. Clean. Developing. Intense, rich, a fair amount of ripe fruits, touching on exotic fruits. Minerality that reminds me of old sea water, sea weed, saltiness. But most of all ripe fruits.
A rich feeling on the palate, good freshness. Seems to me to be very ripe fruit. Mineral. Very good length on the finish.

Seems to me to be a very enjoyable wine if not exactly super elegant. Again, might have been a very mature bottle.

  • Showed a bit reduced and some sulfur notes at first, but opened up to the lovely sea foam/white truffle oil/candied lemon. Spectacular with a white truffle dish at Manresa, Los Gatos, CA

  • Drunk with Charles and Lucy -- a gray market import. Chalky nose and mouth with medium-full body and roundness. An attractive bottle, yet somehow left one longing for more complexity. Drinking fine now, can still age a long time.

  • A very enjoyable Chablis. Wonderfully balanced. Perfect acidity. I also get the mineral, seashell notes on the nose. Finally a non-oxidized 2002!!

  • Decanted and poured, this wine continues to develop nicely and now exhibits a combination youthfulness and maturity. The aromatics shows expressive notes of mineral, sea shell, citrus, honey and spearmint. The bouquet is defined and focused. The color is a light to medium yellow that is correct for the wine's age. The medium bodied palate displays balance and detail. Acidity remains present on the finish. This drinks well now with decanting and even improved with some air time. This should continue to drink well for many years.

  • Scott and Kate's din din -- Much much cleaner and purer next to the '01 of the same. More minerally, pure, seashell, wet shells etc. On the palate more tight fruit, pear, just unripe peach/apricot. Herbal notes like mint and shiso.

  • Has added weight over the years. Drinking perfectly now - stony, minerally, wet gravel, lemon curd. Acutely balanced.Pristine wine. This is edging toward the upper limits of chardonnay.

  • This is a superb Chablis. Stony. Flinty. Minerally. Precise stone fruit. Enough acidity, but not bracing or biting. An exceptional example of chardonnay.

  • This wine was decanted and poured. This is outstanding. It has depth, nuance, complexity and exceptional balance. The aromatics show oyster shell, sea salt, stone, lemon and floral notes. The color is a vibrant light yellow that is correct for the wines age (it could even be described as youthful). The medium bodied palate shows length and balance. This wine has everything going for it at this point and drank well from beginning to end. This should drink well for many more years and may even benefit from another year or two of bottle age.

  • Very nice. Crisp and minerally, but with the characteristic Raveneau notes of lanolin on the nose and plushness on the palate. Drinking young with no signs of oxidation.

  • Oola SF Lori and gang--shy at first--bright and crisp--after 20-30 minutes of aeration the staggering Raveneau nose of mint, sea shells, minerals, wet stones and lemon meringue emerged. This wine always delivers! With some wine enthusiasts who are new but excited--they came up with some wonderful descriptors such as 'wheatgrass' and 'Jordan almonds'.. cool! All that and creme brulee, lemon/lime.. and at the end--a touch of white truffle. Whooooahhhh....
