Drank on Christmas day with chicken stuffed with pistachios. Delicious. Drinking perfectly, good match to the food, lovely oaky balance and length of finish

Golden. Huge aromatic profile of oak with some quiet fruit and mineral complexity residing behind it. Rich and sweet with creamy texture and aromatics, vanilla, challah, butterscotch creme and ripe golden apple syrup. Dense and rich but decent acidity and persistence. Nice wine, certainly time left though not sure how long the fruit and mineral can evolve with the strong oak presence.

Lovely golden yellow in colour Nice nose of stone fruit, honey, there is a cold minerality and some wood character as well. On the palate, good acidity, good weight (med+ to full body), peach and floral. Length is ok not more. It lacks a bit of definition of aromas but certainly a good white burgundy.

This is a world apart from the last time I sampled a bottle, just about a year ago. A bit of sweet oak shows on the nose on opening but within 30-60 minutes it is barely noticeable amongst waxy white flowers and fruit and strong minerality. Great balance and great length. A bit hard to pinpoint as to where it is from and what it is (blind tasters were thinking Pinot Gris, Chenin or something from the Rhone with surprising acidity) but undeniably a very fine wine with nice balance and a lot of elegance.

Buttery, vegetal hint to the nose, cooked pears. Quite ripe and somewhat flat. Butterscotch on the front palate, candied white fruits, and finally some acidity. Tasted side by side with the '06 and this was, by comparison, sweet and syrupy.

Overoaked and sweet as a result with too much vanilla, caramel, butterscotch and toast. Though more air time reveals more fruit and character, I don't think it will ever absorb the oak. A couple years will definitely help though. Too bad as the underlying fruit, while not tremendous, could have produced an excellent Hautes Cotes de Nuits.

Washington Tasters Guild 2005 White Burgundy Tasting (Marcel's in Washington, DC): Very faint pear blossom nose, crisp pear skin and lime on the palate. Once this warmed, it was less reticent, and its finish was impressively long and crisp, but it didn't really say much beforehand.

Big, fruity yet classy chard with loads of ultra ripe peach and mineral nuttiness. Great value for an '05 white Burg.
