  • I was on the Copain mailing list for 15 years but dropped off when Wells left and the winery was sold to Jackson Family. This is the first wine I've tried since the transition, and while I wasn't expecting much, this was surprisingly solid. Reminds me of a recent '18 Mangot (BDX) in that it's laden with pretty raspberry, cranberry skin and a bit of baking spice. A softer side of syrah, probably made for early drinking, but this is a great cellar defender at ~$15 and delivers enough complexity and brightness to keep it interesting.
