Very good, varietally correct cooler climate Syrah. Though not at the peak for this producer. Felt somewhat reductive overall, though has it share of violet and olive showing through. Solid core of dark fruit. Finishes with firm tannins and pleasant inner aromas, though finish is clipped by the reductive character, it seems.
Has plenty of structure and worth some age if you have multiple bottles. May or may not evolve, but good raw material

Explosive from the pop and pour. Deep black fruit, campfire, warm leather - it’s very Syrah. The density of fruit identifies it as Californian, but it never tips to the goopy or flat. The acids and tannins support and frame, creating balance. All that wine geek stuff aside, it’s just so damned delicious. Every sip makes me want another one. Whoops! All gone.

This Syrah was more N. Rhonish than any other CA Syrah I've had. If I had this in a blind tasting, I would have guessed Cornas or Hermitahe!!
Roasted meat and black pepper greet your nose right away. With some time in the glass, aromas of blackberry and violets slowly start to become part of the mix. Medium to full bodied with medium(+) acidity and grippy tannins. A long and peppery finish leaves a lasting impression.

Vibrant. Dark, savory fruit with black olive notes. Plenty of life ahead. This is a beauty.
