  • Wine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): A deep ruby blend of 38% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 1% Cinsault and 1% other permitted varietals, Château La Nerthe's 2020 Châteauneuf serves up an aromatic core of black and red bramble fruits that are accented with notes of garrigue, allspice, white pepper and smoke. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, lightly oaked and with medium-weight, silky tannins, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas, adding a nice thread of graphite on the dense mid-palate. Despite weighing in at 15%, the wine's alcohol is well-integrated when served at the appropriate temperature. Finishing long and smooth, this is very enjoyable by virtue of its soft textures. Enjoy it over the next 10 years or so. Drink now-2034.

  • Raspberry, underripe blueberry, almond poppyseed muffin, and thyme. Smooth, dry palate. Soft tannins on the medium long+ finish.

This is young. I expect this will exceed my score in a few years.

  • Drinkable now. Fruity. Medium. Not tannic. Not tart. Should age.

Went good with steak and scallops. Complex.

  • A polished wine, albeit very sound and certainly not without local conncetion. The vintage speaks here, it's sexy stuff, sweet, ripe fruit, local spice, chocolate, tobacco, all the fixers. Already open for business, but will keep of course. A medium bodied wine, not your heavyweight champion neuf, this is dressed up to go to dinner.

  • Forward, medium-bodied, soft, elegant and already charming, the sweetness and purity along with lift and energy create the perfect backdrop for the plums, licorice, smoke, cherries and spice on the nose and palate. Drink from 2023-2033.
