Nose has become a bit muted, though does have some nice earth tones. On the palate is balanced with some mild spice and soft fruit, but also some acidity on the back end. Will have to pull my other two bottles out of storage soon to be consumed as it is on the decline.

This has only gotten better with time. Still quite a lot of fruit on the palate, and fully integrated tannins. Can still easily continue to age for a few more years though probably won't change a whole lot. Ty's wines tend to hold their bold fruit flavors.

Decanted 30-45min. Do not rush to drink this one. The fruit is still lush and powerful. Dark crimson in the glass. We didn't pay too close attention as far as notes go. Good earthy tones as well. Too bad we didn't stock up during the recession. Newer releases are selling for over 2x as much.

Ready to drink. Decanted, but drinkable immediately. Wonderful dark fruits, tobacco and leather. Nice bit of tobacco and a hint of chocolate on a good finish.

Decanted for 1.5 to 2 hours. Deep color. Dark fruit and cocoa on the nose, with some pepper. Dark fruits with smooth tannins. Cabernet and Petite Sirah come through with nice support from the others in the blend. Great finish. Still got some time left on this for sure.

Deep, inky purple color. Big nose of blueberry pie, pepper, cassis, dark chocolate. More of the same on the palate with dark fruit flavors with some bitter dark chocolate on the back end. Firm tannins. Long finish. Just delicious overall. Really nice at the moment but definitely has some room to grow.

Brought this to a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. They decanted it for me (first glass without). A superb wine, with nice bold dark fruits and a full complex structure. This wine is drinking very well right now and should still develop well for at least a few more years.

Dad's 60th B-day + Parents 39th Anniv. (Parents): This is a big in your face fruit forward wine. Very tasty with layers of fruit with a little spice/pepper. Tannins were not drying to me and intergrated- bottle did receive 1.5 hours of air time. Very tasty wine- not food friendly as it would over power almost everything- maybe with desert. Long finish and a crowd pleaser for the novice drinkers. This is a great new world wine.

Definitely decant and could use more aging, but once opened tasted great. Rich plum fruit balanced with leather and good long finish despite the 15.3% ABV.

Poured twice through the vinturi with filter in place - lots of sediment.
Opaque dark violet. Rich, deep nose. Blackberry, blueberry, black cherry brandy, violets, a little bit of pencil-shaving cedar and a little thyme. Really complex and lovely. Not hot at all - the alcohol doesn't show through.
Velvety, fruity entry gives way to mouth-drying tannins and lots of dry woody notes - like licking fresh-sawn logs. Plenty of acidity, but it's slightly off, a bit too sour. The fruit notes after the attack are now unripe, green, pithy, zesty. There's almost something medicinal and there are a lot more green notes overall, almost like some Cab Franc snuck in.
Mouthfeel and structure are substantial, and this wine is drinking pretty well now - it doesn't feel too young but would drink well for a few more years I'd bet. Finish is shockingly short and very drily woody, with maybe a bit of earth or clay in there.
I want some juiciness in a red, and I don't get any here. Further decanting didn't help either - even more of the fruit has faded, and it's bitter green sawdust (and rosemary?!). I would recommend AGAINST decanting. Tasting this wine was a very interesting experience, but it's not a wine that I'll want to drink again, or drink in quantity.

Dark color with not a whole lot on the nose initially. On the palate the syrah was very strong to begin showing flavors of spice, pepper and current. Over time it mellowed out and integrated flavors from the other components much better.

Decanted 3 hours. Very dark purple in color. Nose of blue and black fruits with a touch of earthiness...you can really smell the Petite Sirah. Big blackberry fruit on the palate with chocolate and earth. Long finish, with slightly drying tannins.
Day 2: Even better than day 1! Wow, excellent fruit with a floral component I just love in this wine. Well worth the $ paid for this one! Wish I had bought more...

It has been a little bit since this tasting, but I remember the bottle still being very young and green. Needs some more time in the bottle. However, i am very excited to try the remaining bottle a few years down the road.

dark fruit and chocolate on the nose, oak present, but just enough to give it some body. really well balanced with a nice long finish. i wasn't really wowed, but it is definitely a solid, delicious wine.

The petite Sirah in the wine makes this different from anything else out there. Big structure and a strong backbone with tons of ripe fruit and pepper. Over a 2 hour period it was constantly opening up. Blueberry and chocolate with a hint of smoke and pepper. Still a bit hot, needs time to integrate.

Summer Party (JavaMonkey's house): Dark purple color. On the nose, there's sweet blackberry, dark chocolate, and smoke. Nice full palate. Good structure with some firm tannins. Medium length finish. This is a very hedonistic wine. Very enjoyable, but not the most thought-provoking.

Poured into my decanter except for a small taste into the glass. Initial nose was of cocoa and blackberries. Had a very hot mouth feel on on the initial sip with tastes of plum, a dense mid-palate, and a long tannic finish. After about an hour in the decanter, the fruit aromas had really opened up and the mouth feel was much smoother. The strong oak in this blend is just beginning to integrate... I'd say it's too young to drink now without an hour or 3 decanting. I'll try another bottle next year.

Still too young. Green and a bit herbacious but the oak is starting to integrate. It has the potential, time will tell. Drink the next one in a years time.
