First time with this wine which was a recommendation of a dinner companion at Atera. It has developed a bit of a cult following and so I understand was at one point quite reasonable to purchase and has since become quite a bit more expensive. It holds up to the new price relatively well though. There's a lot of life to it (sounds like much more life than the previous note - I would say this has another 10+ years easy to it). Perhaps a bit almost heavy or extra fruity and would benefit from a few more years and time. But lovely and went great with the red meat courses.
For sure one sees the elegance of this wine and purity but unfortunately in the case of this bottle is an elegance of a few years ago. The nose had a light oxidation and a honey/syrup feel and a bit of a let down as in the palate the wine is very soft and elegant fully matured and tertiary. No point in rating

La plus belle bouteille des 3.. largement supérieure aux autres. Le tout est très bien balancé entre le fruit mûr/cuit et la touche tertiaire de poussière avec un peu de boite a cigare.. Excellent!

Wine-pages Glasgow Festival of Wine Pre Offline (Cail Bruich, Glasgow): Fantastic nose with gorgeous rounded black fruit. Rich, full palate. This is delicious, if rather hefty stuff. But it feels a little simple compared to the Fetzer. Really rich in the mouth. Very wide and mouthfilling. Very rounded and open.

Deep colour some Bricking . Deep damson garrigue almost porty nose, quite high in alcohol but very rich fruit. Not over the top despite the power and richness. Very good and has lasted well.

mature colour , slight cloudiness, nose wild voluptuous, smoky bramble fruit, fully mature but in a really good place, very full and lush but although full power had enough acidity to balance and stay fresh. Terrific bottle of wine

Medium to light ruby. Ooh, is this ever minty! Like a Martha's Vineyard Cab, that's how strong the sense of mint and eucalyptus is. Consistent with this, a healthy dose of VA makes it a bit sour at first, but it sweetened, fleshed out, and held up admirably. Completely different from the '96 we had last night-much less a beacon of fruit but at the same time, more complex, earthy and high toned. Extraordinarily interesting to have these disparate vintages on consecutive nights. I must say that I think this is on the verge of falling apart. Despite the appealing complexity, I preferred the balance and bright fruit of the '96.

Grange des Peres vertical (Robersons): Deep garnet, a touch of haze. Developed, red fruit nose, bretty (sweaty horse saddle) with some leafiness too, quite tertiary. On the palate this is evolved, with resolved tannin, the fruit has almost gone. A little boring. Medium - length. From magnum.

This lived up to it’s cult status. Great mature wine with impeccable balance. Some spice, balanced oak, cherry. Wow.
