Chocolate covered cherries, red plums, perceptible but not overwhelming oak on the nose. Medium body and medium plus acidity, which I find is a hallmark of this vintage. Tannins are there but not overwhelming, as is the oak, but everything is reasonably in balance, though I do get a bit of alcoholic heat on the midpalate to the finish. Not upset at all with this for the $30 price tag at Costco.

Boy, I was pleasantly surprised by this $20 Costco find. Went very well with red sauce chicken dish. Of course, they probably don't carry it anymore, and Brunellos cost twice as much at Total Wine.

With pizza. Scooped at local Costco for < $30. Bright, light bodied, classic sangiovese flavor of tart cherries and burnt citrus rind. Not much of the floral bouquet or the depth and tannins I associate with 2016 but very drinkable and pleasant. Was ready within about 30 minutes of opening and decanting and drinkable from the pop. Good value for the price and matched well with the food, but nothing spectacular; would opt for this over a similarly priced Chianti.
