  • was late at getting this out so just shy of a 3 hour decant at first taste. Nose is absolutely bursting with red and purple berries. Has that deep purple fruit center tongue I get from most Bedrock Mourvèdre, but at the moment that tannins are still like a wall after a few seconds. Another hour or so and it starts to open up, with some acidic red fruit entering the mix, reminiscent of a splash of carignan. This is really good, everything I hoped for, just needs loads more time to come full circle.

  • dark and brooding. Could sit another few years before drinking. Probably would be better with food

  • Outstanding, and still on its way up. Dense, filled with mulberry and black berry pie fruits, hints of cherry chapstick, immensely savory and stony, with a bit of brushy, funky undergrowth. Finely tuned and medium bodied, with silty tannins, and a long finish full of sour plum and warm rocks. 14.5%, but hides it quite well.

  • Drank one of these in May 2022. Couldn’t even wait a year for another one. Rich, savory, a bit wild, and entirely satisfying, this is the burly side of Mourvèdre, but very well appointed. There’s structure, but it’s not blatant. The deep, dark fruit tames the more animalistic elements of the grape. Eventually it’s comfortable - a really nice chair that smells of old leather, but shows no signs of wear.

  • 3 hour decant. Still a monster of a wine. Abundant dark purple fruit, loads of spice (from oak?). Really dense mouthfeel but the flavor lightens it. Even with more time it remains light and fresh in feel, but terribly deep and tense. Long long life ahead on this one.

  • Fantastic expression of site, vintage, and varietal. Deep and layered as I’d expect from old vines and Bedrock vineyard. Fresh, juicy, and drinking well young, as I’ve come to expect from 2019s via the Bedrock lineup. Dark and savory with meaty, peppery notes accenting the juicy fruit, just as I want my Mourvèdre. A huge winner all around. My only question is how did they get away with calling this Mourvèdre when Morgan always says Mataro??

  • Very light on its feet and drinkable right out of the bottle despite its relatively high alcohol content. Deep ruby. Plums sage and anise on the nose. On the other palate medium acidity, high tannin full body, blueberries, sage and black pepper. Long finish. Beautifully captures that Mourvèdre unruliness even young. Can’t wait to see how this develops. Outstanding.

  • Tasted great out of the bottle as a pop and pour. Meaty dark fruits enveloped with pepper and tobacco. The finish of savory dark fruit skin and fresh ground black pepper makes this an awesome pairing for red meat.

Drank with new york strip seasoned with nothing but salt. The wine brought the rest of the layers of seasoning. The only gripe I have with this wine is the lack of acidity to provide some extra lift. The big flavors do get a bit overwhelming after by the second glass.

  • Red cherry, blue fruit, white pepper and sage. Integrating very nicely now and should improve over the next 3-5 years.

  • This reminded me of the CDP wines I used to drink and love some years back. The garrigue and meat and blood and pepper components are all there; perhaps what is missing is the barnyard, which here is replaced by a very deft hand in the winemaking, showing that old-vine depth and balance (juicy fruits) -- Desire Lines care -- maybe a Sandlands type of thing. I guess the one complaint I'd have is that by the end of the bottle on the 2nd night, I was noticing the alcohol and whether its the hay fever running amuck or not, I felt the burn on my throat. My dear wife, who is not joining in the bottle much of late, is letting me know she smells the alcohol after a glass. TMI, perhaps, but I'd prefer a lower ABV. But, this is a great, powerful and overall well balanced wine, even if it's not of a style I'm seeking out much these days.

  • Wow! Extremely balanced. There is so much going on, but it’s hard to single out the components. Subtle, earthy nose balanced with strawberry and a certain brightness. Plenty of fruit on the palate, with dark red fruit, blueberry and black plum flavors. Medium body and tannin balanced with a juicy acidity. Long peppery finish. Should be a very versatile food wine. We loved it with lasagna. The wine continued to open up as it sat in the glass. This should age nicely. I hope I have the patience to find out.

  • Pop and pour, but no worries, as it was gushing from the start. Dark red fruit, meaty undertones and a garrigue savory tone marked this as both Mourvèdre and Desire Lines. Little bit hard to specifically place it as Bedrock Vineyard, largely because it’s the first varietal Mourvèdre wine I have ever tried from the site. Plenty of material and back end structure to watch this progress for several years. Not that I am likely to be that patient.

  • Racy! With all kinds of earth and tabaco and 500 miles of black pepper finish.
