In my last note about six months ago, I said that I thought it was on the downhill slope, but this bottle has changed my mind. Great fruit nose, still a good amount of fruit on the palate and a decent finish. This bottle was really good, perhaps the best yet!

Oak dominated nose, big vanilla and caramel notes, but also some nice ripe black fruit. Intense. The mouth was silky and full, ripe black fruit, some spice. Straight forward but smooth, the tannins and acidity in perfect balance with the fruit... Had the treatment of the american oak been a little lighter this wine would've scored higher for me. Good nevertheless, and holding up well.

This wine was sublime. A slight aroma of toasty oak, but very subtle. This blended well with some hints of florals and black fruit with a touch of spice. On the palate it reminded me of a 2004 Opus One with a little less tannin. Very smooth and very drinkable now. I am going to buy more of this right now!

A delicious wine. Significantly less in your face than I recall the 2005 Syrah being, which I tried with a friend recently. The wine had a nice balance with relatively low tannins, but good acidity and fruit without the overbearing oak. This was a real crowd pleaser and the favorite between the 2004 Oculus, 2004 Stratus and a 2000 Conterno Barolo.

Really good bottle. Consistent with previous notes, but seemed to have really smoothed out.

Really nice wine, but fell short when compared to the other bottle we were drinking. Nice nose and nice smooth tannins. Still drinking well.

Smooth entry, smells of cedar, lots of pepper in the taste. Gentle tannins with a medium length finish.

Nice firm tannic backbone, with plenty of acidity & stuffing to see this last a few more years. The wine is predominated by black fruit and spice...

Consistent with previous notes. Very enjoyable, but needed a good three hour decant.
