  • As lasers align in celestial choreography, beams weave a tapestry of light, akin to angels singing in cosmic harmony. Zen-like balance, a cosmic ballet, resonates like a baby Jesus smiling with joy, embracing the universe's luminous embrace. The whisper of hope echoes, transcending realms, as ethereal energies converge in celestial jubilation.

  • 90 minute decant. Nose of blackberry, black plum, tarragon, and lemon thyme. Star-kissed raspberry and cherry palate rides on a lightweight body with notes of tangerine and cumquat interspersed with acidity and earthy tones. A line of tannins provides a nice backdrop but the wine stays light on its feed, adding fleshy blackberry, grape skins, and a slightly bitter sorrel note at the end.

  • 1 hr decant and more is probably better. Loads of different red berries, especially red currants, and a touch of oak/driven sweetness, a little orange zest. There’s a lot here. All very calmly delivered with a cotton pyjama softness. Wonderful, soft in the best sense of the term. Kept opening up as we sipped.

Score: 92. Relative to expectations: ++

  • Crisp and acidic, with tart cranberry and strawberry tart notes. Some stone dust on the finish. Decanted for 3 hours and perhaps would have benefitted from even more air.

  • Decanted 2 hours. Nose of cherries, strawberries, and cinnamon rolls. Light bodied, with an interesting acidity profile. The acid starts off gentle but ends with a bite at the finish. Palate of tart and crunchy strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, with allspice supporting the fruits. Light and gentle tannins bring in a bit of woody oak notes to the party. The tart red fruits continue in to the finish with the addition of limestone, mild black pepper, and orange/lemon zest. At the very end, I get a pop of flower blossoms and rose petals.

Not sure I would have pegged this as Mourvedre. Different, fun, and easy drinking wine.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes…winemaker and others say an hour.

Cherry, allspice, cinnamon, cola, a light touch of vanilla on the nose. You almost have to dig for the vanilla which is interesting. Cherry, the same light vanilla, light smoked wood on the palate. You know how Mourvèdre is usually driven by dried herbs, spice, earth and game/animal notes? This is like a bizarro version that’s purely driven by spice. Maybe the other flavors will emerge with bottle age.

Medium bodied with medium + acid and medium tannins. If drinking this young, definitely recommend a chill. Otherwise I say hold this for at least two more years.

  • Lovely crunchy texture on this wine. Cranberry, strawberry and crushed stones. Floats on the palate.

  • Hardy always recommends a significant decant for his wines. He’s right. We did not decant this bottle, and it was only the last glass or so that really showed the full potential. Early on it was largely acid-driven, but after an hour or so the depth of the fruit became more apparent. It never got to the swirling vortex level that some of these wines reach, but that was probably because it just didn’t have enough time to wake up.

  • Decent wine during the week with dinner. Decanted for an hour. I get some barnyard on the nose. Ripe red fruit on the palate with some tannins. The finish was medium. I feel like I enjoyed the D&R Mourvèdre more. I’ll give it some more time and try another bottle over the summer.

  • Red fruited nose strawberry and raspberry, flavors are similar, nice acidity, not tannic, very fruit forward, this is quite acidic for a California red, a very nice wine that is hard to resist, popped and poured and bottle was gone in a little over an hour

  • Very reductive on opening, but that blew off entirely after an hour or so in the decanter (not to mention the old trusty “pour the entire bottle vigorously back and forth between two decanters 10-20 times” trick). At that point it’s an elegant drink—dancing between red and black fruit, with some suave tannins on the finish. Nice, and I think a bit more approachable than the Evangelho for early drinking, but do make sure to give it some air.

  • Mourvedre-Barbera-Chenin Blanc (!) just exploding with florals and juicy red and black fruits. Beautiful round texture with very fine tannin
