  • good mid-neck level, hopeless crumbly cork, 3 hour decant in small decanter, quite a lot of sediment, distinctly brown colour, superb nose, could just inhale the wine, classic Margaret River Cabernet, rich but super fine, cool, mulberry / blackcurrant, classy, complex and fine, palate also excellent, lovely concentration and clean fruit depth, cool, although 14% no alcoholic heat at all, great balance, length and persistence, still markedly dry with fine tannins at the finish giving some bite, really fine aged example but still full of life and virility despite the brown colour, a gift in 1996 from a close friend who has since passed on, fama semper vivat!

  • Almost corked nose and texture which took some hours to fully blow off. Nice maturity and dried plum character with leathery notes. Light in body. A bit scratchy in texture. Enjoyable and interesting.
