Aromas of ripe black fruit dominate, complemented by an earthy beetroot-like essence and hints of cassis.
On the palate, medium-plus tannins frame a luscious array of ripe and fresh black fruit flavors. Malolactic notes add depth, while a subtle coffee-mocha note lingers in the background, contributing to the wine's complexity.

Quite tasty even in its youth, there is a nice depth of fruit (especially for the price), a touch of cedar and pepper and black olive, light oak spice notes, and a tannic finish. Elements of plush fruit and nicely balanced acidity.

Desperate times, Robinsons supermarket purchase in Cebu. Pop n pour, drank over. Couple of hours. Not a lot of aromas coming through. Not overly fruit forward, palate is rather leaf driven, tobacco / tomato leaf, almost that capsaicin tone coming through. Very dry wine. Meh, not for me.

You know, I picked up a half of this to cook with a red wine that wouldn't be nasty tart wash, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality in the unused rest of the bottle. May pick up a full one day at the supermarket and see if I can enjoy its simple but complete cab-sav tastiness again. My glass+ out of this guy had it nicely together.

Not very open aromas: surprisingly some tobacco. Minerals earth. Was excpecting more fruit. Really full bodied on the mouth. Bombastic fruit galore, with good structure still underneath. Also quite a bit of chocolate. Raspberry also in the longish aftertaste. Alcohol was present at the end, but not too bad. Delicious wine to be honest. 90p

2020 Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon was fruit-forward and crowd pleasing. Under a convenient screwcap enclosure, the Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was clear and deep ruby in colour without any sediments. Evident aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and figs were followed by eucalyptus, vanilla and graphite.
The mouthfeel was dry and full-bodied, with a medium level of acidity and a rather high level of velvety tannin. There were flavours of cassis, smoke, liqourice and black pepper spices in a medium, robust finish. The 14.5% alcohol was reflected in its richness and spices. The empty half-bottle weighed 305 grams. Its taste profile was almost identical to the 2016 vintage that I tasted four years ago in Toronto, showcasing the consistency the Chilean producer.
According to Montes official website, the blend is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. It is raised in a combination of inert vessels (45%) and French oak barrels (55%) for twelve months.

We agree with everybody else, a decent Cab at a very good price. A good quaff for the money.

Walk around tasting. Fun, easy, and balanced. Much more than most wines at this price.

Deep red in the glass, dark and inky. Fruit forward then leads into a definite "coffee-like" flavor - heavy-bodied, chewy tannins.
