Color: dark cherry. Nose: Restrained. Some dark plum, some spice, some green. Taste: Sour cherries and sour plums. Medium body, nice weight. Enjoying it with steak. Good for $8.

had a case of the 05 as my weekday house wine for a while; this is the first 06 I've had. Really interesting and intense floral/perfume midpalate after 30 minutes or so which the 05 didn't possess. Fascinating in that regard. Just a great great QPR especially when it's on sale for 6 bucks!

Dark berry and some vanilla on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel and good grip. The fruit is light but definitely present as a combination of red and blue berries. Low acidity, yet the lightness makes it pair well enough with food. A perfectly pleasant everyday wine, and absolutely worth the price.

I see a lot of bad notes on this wine on CellarTracker! but I liked it. Simple, sure. Herbs and violets on the nose. Red fruiton the palate. A bit soft. But a pleasant wine and it would match well with food. I like Rhones and I like this wine.

This is a simple and unimpressive but good everyday table-wine. Mostly red ("grapy") fruit nose - a little floral, too. A low acidic and low tannic red wine with dominating flavors of red currant. Finishes with a light peppery note but nothing to get excited about. Didn't really improve (or get worse) over the next few days, either. With a Wine Spectator rating of 87 I had higher hopes, though. In my humble opinion, this 2006 La Vieille Ferme falls into the category of a good crowd-pleaser that will fair well with a lot of different dishes. Considering the price, this wine is definitely a good value and I'll keep it in mind for my next big BBQ.

started off with a restrained floral & cheap caramel nose with a somewwhat metallic finish. it opened up (finally) to a subtle mix of lavendar & pepper. somewhat dilute mid palate. preferred the cheaper VF stablemate Lasira of the same vintage.

Fairly simple and with that cheap red wine taste, but it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Medium weight, low tannins, and some decent ripe fruit and spice. It was certainly worth the price even if it wasn't the best wine by any strech of the imagination.

Ruby color. Nose of ripe raspberry, cherry, and hot cinnamon candy. A little damp earth. On the palate: lighter body, raspberry jam, pepper, some mushroom, very light touch of oak. Rustic wooden tannins on the finish with more of the hot cinnamon candy and a bit of iron. Pretty darn good everyday drinker for the miniscule price. Good value.

beim ersten Öffnen wenig Aroma, (18 Grad 4 Stunden dekandiert), wenig gehaltvoll im Glas, Johannisbeere, Cassis; Gaumen fast scharf und aufdringlich; 2.Tag: eigentlich alles "ausgeraucht" und keine Harmonie zu finden;

Opened the white of this label and was fairly unimpressed, so I opened the red thinking I might like it more. I was similarly unimpressed. It had a decent sweetness, my wife thought it was spicy or peppery, but I did not. It was okay, and of course inexpensive, but I have been more impressed with Spanish granacha near this price point, or with CDR for a couple of dollars more. Have a bottle of the white and red and two rose left. The white and red will be saved for entertaining when volume is desired, the rose should prove to be good if consumed cold on a hot day, at least here's hoping.

Jungle Jim's Southern Rhone Tasting (Jungle Jim's, Fairfield, OH): 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Carrignan, 15% Cinsault. Some eucalyptus scents, hints of alcohol, celery tops, and a touch of black pepper on the nose. Hollow on the flavors up front, light body has a touch of white pepper, so so fruit. Finish shows some alcohol, has ok acid & a decent grip from tannins.

Sealed with a screw cap. Aroma's include red berry, a good amount of 'brett', clay, some black fruits coming through. Not much going on on the palate, some plum flavors, off balance, hot. Cheap, but still a pass- foodandwineblog.com

Dark purple, strong primary nose of ripe unoaked fruit with plum and alcohol, big juicy, spicy palate with great length, not tones of complexity but focused primary ripe red fruits, good QPR

Very smooth and an easy drinker. Drinking window says 2008, but this is still good and should be good for the rest of the year, if not next year also.

Plush and black fruited, with a bit of mineral to it as well. A bit too low in acidity for me to want to buy more, even at the $7 price.
