  • 2005 Ghost Horse is an incredible wine 94+! Black current, vanilla, wood shavings, a hint of coffee (reminds me of a California version of a Bordeaux First Growth).
Decanted for over 5 1/2 hours and just hitting its stride. Great mouthfeel and just starting to take on the color and taste profile of a "midlife" First Growth Paulliac. Plenty of life left in this beauty and will open my next bottle in 2-3 years to see how it's progressing. Has another 1-2 decades left at least. Todd Anderson of Anderson's Conn Valley may be the most under-appreciated vintner in Napa! If you've never had a (Anderson's) Conn Valley Signature Cabernet, Estate Reserve Cabernet, Eloge, Right Bank, or Chardonnay, you owe it to yourself to track one down and enjoy a treat. Robert Hunt, the current winemaker, is carrying on the legacy and doing Todd Anderson proud!

  • Opened for 5 hours. Got better each hour. Needs time but is fantastic now with some serious decanting. Integrated tannins, dark cherries, velvety long finish. Definite Bordeaux style.

  • Vanilla and wood. Not a lot of stuffing and a bit thin but a reasonable wine.

  • ($400) Napa-Noma, May 2008: Inky and more woody than the previous Ghost Horse. Tastes closer to the barrel. Concentrated sweet currant and licorice. Lavender finish. Quite good.
