Good price point on a Napa cab. Prior to the realignment of their line, I didn't prefer this bottle from BV, but with the upgrade (in price) - they have also made it fuller/rounder/more flavorful.

I admit to buying this because of the WS hype. It takes a lot of time and work to coax the ripe fruit to come out. Not much for aroma, medium bodied and svelt with some mild creme de cassis notes.

Bright, red and dark fruit aromas and flavors (red currant, plums), judicious use of oak (vanilla, cedar, spice), pencil lead aroma, mouth-filling medium+ body, lively medium acidity, short-ish finish, medium, chewy tannins, a bit of residual sugar.
Midpalate and finish was a little lacking but I liked the wine overall. It is bright and very pleasant to drink, but lacks complexity or length. Seems like a good value for Napa cab at $30 but better wines can be had for less from other parts of the world.

Community Tasting Note #100: cannot add much to the previous 99 notes except to add that this Cabernet Sauvignon tastes natural and clean, tastes of sun, hospitable soil and pure, natural grapes. Integrated and smooth, offering substance and pleasure. Wine Spectator's #1 Value Wine of 2023: a well deserved accolade. Bravo! My points are for quality alone, add price and points would be increased. Buy this wine.

Deep purple. Blackberry, cassis and toasty oak on the nose. Medium to full-bodied with good freshness, lift and the structure for medium-term aging. This improved over a couple of days without any signs of oxidation. A crowd-pleasing Napanesque wine and excellent for the price.
Similar experience to the bottle enjoyed back in late October with perhaps more noticeable vanilla. Definitely on the youthful side, but decanting helps. Always a good purchase at <$30 USD.
Pop & pour at South & Pine. Very fruit forward and enjoyable with just enough structure. A crowd pleaser and pretty good value but not overly complex. I doubt that holding will improve anything about this wine - enjoy!

Second bottle I've had in saving the other four at least two to three years with a couple to 10 years. Not a better Napa cab under $35 out there in my opinion. Not a fruit bomb but well balanced with acids fruit and tannins and goes great with meatloaf topped with hot pepper bacon jam. I definitely prefer this with food rather than by itself

Definitely a solid Napa Cab, pretty consistent from vintage to vintage. Deep ruby, full body. Aromatic and flavor profile tends towards purple florals, blackberry, black cherry, plum, vanilla, baking spices, and a streak of forest floor. Oak, tannin, and acidis are in development but there’s plenty of structure to support additional cellaring. Solid finish. Went great with the bone in strip sirloins. Drink now though 2030.

Wine Spectator called it the 2023 Value Wine of the year! Really? Maybe. I picked it up for about $28 and immediately cracked it open to see for myself. Some may say it's too young to open, I tell those some to mind their own business. Anyways, I did not decant but I had it over a 3 day period, allowing between 30 min to 2 hours to aerate in the glass. Day 1, it was aggressive with the alcoholic bite at the end. It had all of the notes you would expect from a basic Cabernet Sauvignon. Day 2, tannins softened and more fruity, sweet notes emerged. Day 3, it softened some more and really was at a good drinking window. So, worth it? At under $30, Yes! If I were to serve this to a group at dinner, I'd decant in my Riedel Mamba.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), mineral and black pepper. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Overall this is delicious. This wine impressed me with the amazing smells for a $25 wine. There were not too much complexity on the palate, but the relatively lighter body and the elegant finish perfectly balanced it.

Bought a case of this based on the Wine Spectator #1 value rating and the 25% sale at BV. Glad I did. Will be buying another case. Great QPR. Popped and poured at steakhouse. Wonderful strong aromas in the glass of dak berries & cherries, mocha, and cigar box. Flavors of black cherry, dark berry, and mocha/chocolate. Nicely balanced with no alcohol burn, nice but not huge acidity, and smooth tannins, so can drink now or keep for years. All the other CT reviews with 90+ scores are spot on.

Blackberry, plums, vanilla, a bit of leather, and a faint bit of butterscotch on the nose. All are apparent on the palate as well, plus a bit of slate. The tannins are present, but are fairly round. There is a good amount of acidity, which nicely balances the fruit and oak flavors and keeps them from dominating the palate. This sets this wine apart from some similarly-priced California Cabernets which are deservedly characterized super-extracted fruit and oak bombs.
Overall, a good and enjoyable wine; I can see what Wine Spectator saw when they named this their top value pick for 2022. I don't often buy California wines, but I may have to pick up more of this one.

First of six picked up from Binny's (though this is widely available). Opened for about an hour before drinking but didn't decant or aerate. Cherries and fruit bouquet on the nose, maybe even a hint of strawberry right at opening which faded quickly. As it opened up, plum and oak notes. Definitely fruit forward on the palate, but with more texture than a "fruit bomb" thanks to supple tannin's and a hint of Rutherford dust as others have noted. As the bottle opened up, stronger tones of wood and some underlying spice became apparent. Rich, velvety mouthfeel and decent length finish. Overall an enjoyable, approachable wine, especially for its age and <$30 price point. I can see why it was rated so highly as a "value" buy. Lacks some of the more acidic spice and pepper notes that would take it up a rung for me, but very enjoyable and approachable wine with a surprising amount of subtlety. Probably stash one or two for five years from now, but suspect the others will be drunk in the short to medium term. Next bottle will aerate or decant to see how it changes things. Rating right around 89-90 but price point bumps it up.

Not as good as my recollection of the 2018 but still a great value for the money. This one probably needs another year. Black currant and dark plum, cedar, leather and baking spices. Alcohol here jumps out and the acidity is trying to keep up. Tannins are nice and smooth and will only get better with a bit more time in bottle. Overall a well structured bottle.

I saw this wine listed in Wine Spectator as the #1 Value Wine of the year so bought a case in my never ending quest to find a good mid-week quaffer at a decent price with Napa on the label. At $30, this fit the bill. With some air, this is solid. Bumping an extra point based on QPR.

This one built to age with plenty of tannins and acidity. Wish it had a little bit more fruit after 3 hour decant but it is what it is and pretty good for $30 Napa cab. Try next one in five years or 2028

Bought this on the strength of the WS rating-to-price ratio as I don't try many traditional /modern Napa Cabs these days. It was pretty good, and had some level of restraint/elegance to balance out the lushness. It is a good wine for the price in the context of Napa, for sure. Certainly a crowd-pleaser for a gathering/event with groups with a wide range of wine experience and tastes.

Decanted for over 2.5 hours. Aromas of dusty berry, blackberry, mocha, black cherry and iron. Flavors of black cherry, currant, blackberry, melted chocolate and touch of earth. Ends with a 20-25 second finish with blackberry and chocolate notes. For all the craziness of prices these days in Napa this is still reasonable.
