While not an overly complex wine, it has aged very well and has a smoothness and sensation of a well-aged Bordeaux. A bargain at USD 22, but probably hard to find more.

I really was surprised at this . This wine opened up very quickly and still had some food acidity and tail end of tannins. Balanced though with present but not forward fruit.

Not decanted, consumed over ~2 hours. Similar to our bottle from 6/16/2018, the dark red fruit here was present but fading, and more autumnal notes of roast beef and herbs and wet leaves were more noticeable. This bottle seemed somewhat more lively than that last. Overall, this is a decent baseline bottle of bordeaux, maybe in decline, but it seems sound bottles should have at least a couple of years left in them.

Opened 1.5 hours ahead of time but not decanted, consumed over ~2 hours. Fruit notes are certainly in the backseat here, with some mild dark berry and dried cherry notes giving way to shifting aromas of spice cake, roast beef, graphite, a hint of cedar maybe. Firm acidity but little tannin. This bottle was certainly enjoyable but it did seem tired to me - hopefully our other one shows better.

K&L Wines of Bordeaux Tasting (K&L Wines, Redwood City, CA): Vibrant aromas of cherry, red currant, Mediteranean herbs, freshly turned earth, and cedar. Juicy red fruit on entry, with hints of oak adding depth. Gets a bit muted in the mid-palate and finish, suggesting it may be close to being past its prime. But otherwise drinking well right now.

Maturing nose showing warm blackberries, dried herbs and cedar wood. Palate shows warm intense fruit and hints of leather with incipient maturity in the long finish. This is starting to show tertiary notes, but still dominated by fresh fruit and will evolve in a positive way for more years to come. Best 2016-2026.

Mature nose showing sweet cherries, stables and wet leafs in a pleasant way. Perhaps a bit sweet on the palate, showing warm and sweet fruit on the finish. This is a little weak on the palate and feeling a bit too sweet for my taste.

Red with some bricking. Maturing nose showing fresh herbs and red berries. Tannins starting to soften, but still with a fresh austerity and a nice fruit that is starting to dry up. This was perfect together with grilled meat and mushroom sauce. Best 2016-2026.

Like this. Needed an hour plus decant. Once there is nice and smooth. Everything feels well integrated. Perhaps lacking a bit excitement, but nice balance.

This is really good for the first hour or so. It is a smooth refreshing clean medium-bodied easy-to-drink wine. A joy to fatigued palates everywhere. 89 points. After an hour it dips a jot with barnyard appearing among the aromas. Still okay but 88-87 points.

Lovely maturing nose showing dried herbs, leather and cherries and with a softer palate still showing nice structure and tannins. But the fruit starts to dry up and this is ready to drink now and should not be cellared too much longer. Best with an hour of decanting.

Cherry, perfume and hint of barnyard on the nose. Red fruits on the palate and finish. Lovely texture and balance. This is a good vintage for Peyrabon and similar to the 2000.

Decanted over one hour. Subtle cassis and oak on the nose. Light bodied palate, very classic bdx, some cigarbox, elegant oak and subtle cassis flavors.Resolving but still firm tannins.Nicely balanced. Overall rather light and short but very enjoyable. Won´t get much better so it is time to drink up.

A great example to prove that decent red Bdx can be had for <£15. this bottle is mature too. Classic Bdx cedar nose, smooth tannin, silky mouthfeel, good dark berry fruit. No heat, classy but not overly complex. Went surprisingly well with a lamb tagine.

1st nose of cedarwood, followed by sweet raspberry cherry and vanilla. red fruit attack with savoury meat juice traces, medium to full-bodied, sweet short to medium cherry and cedar oak finish with notes of lead pencil. Bordeaux styled.

Charmingly open nose, cedar, pencil shavings and cherries. Fairly full in the mouth with a decent whack of red fruit. Good structure and balance and an interesting tobacco / tarry finish. A little young, needs two to three years more in the bottle, but showing a lot in common with the 1999.

Earthy funk on opening that (somewhat disappointingly) dissipated over time. Some fruit, plenty of acid, and a nice dinner wine.

Classic, old-school Bordeaux with pine needles, dark fruit, lead pencil, meat and tobacco on the palate. A nice, but not a great wine.
