High hopes but delivery was weak... Straw yellow in the glass. Cheesy, brioche nose with high intensity and with some green apple, nutty and peanuts. High salinity but shy on fruit and acidity. Feels much older. Perlage is ok at first but completely disappears after 10 minutes. Thought of a faulty bottle and so we opened a second. Same tasting notes

Ok wine, very fresh, showing nice chard notes, but ultimately somewhat pedestrian, perhaps needs more time in bottle but really probably needed more time on lees.

Second release for this grower and very new for Skurnik as well. So brand new all the way around. In 2018 the young scion started the project of bringing the families vineyards out of contract and back under control. The father's side is Girard and they have 6 hectares in Le Mesnil. And the mother's side has 6 hecctares in Oger. As of the 2023 vintage everything is certified biodynamic.
A rich brioche and toasty nose to it. Good weight and clarity across the palate. Very long finish. Certainly something very special here.
His first wine, 50/50 Oger Le Mesnil - half way. Half mother, half father, half stainless, half oak.

middle weight, with acid and chalk on the texture. This is a throwback to the old Brochet les hauts chardonnays, back when he was not doing it in an oxidative style.

First time with this producer, thank you for the gift, Steve. 100% Chard, with equal parts from LMSO and Oger. 2 grams of dosage, farmed biodynamic. Reminds me of Aurelien Laherte's chardonnays (more like his Les Grandes Crayeres). Very fresh, sliced green apple that is lightly creamy, lime peel, mint and lively lemon with some chalk.

Nice and intense Chardonnay with high mineral expression. In the nose green apples, white peach and hints of green tea. On the palate high minerality - feels like licking a piece of chalk, very dry and high acidity.
Really refreshing and would recommend it with food for now at least

Pale straw color. Nose: Butter, brioche, lemon, green apple, floral. Vinous, tart, lemon oak and yeasty, racy. Finish is very long.

Nose opened with honey and green apple. That stayed with also cream and hay coming in. Mouth is open and fresh and smooth. Mineral.
Neither grand nor overly complex, but giving and pleasant.

Very typical Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, high minerality, chalky, fresh, but accompanied by some creaminess and richness, very good
