What a nice surprise! The perfumed berry aromas have turned to a more classy nose where the garrigue and smoky notes are prominent. Best of all - the sweetness and alcohol are now integrated into the wine. It shows lots of core fruit, good structure, and salty minerals - with at least five years of future in cool cellar conditions. 2005 was a splendid vintage overall!

Popped and poured. What a nose! Some smoky sausage or koscher hot dog meaty aroma. Light medium bodied. Nice well balanced and intense full palate attack of fruit, herb, pepper & garrique. But this intensity quickly dissipates into a more subdued mineral and tannin finish. While there is some complexity in the attack, the finish is fairly simple. ... >>>> After 90 minutes or so the finish improves with more of the flavors in the attack. Roll this around to get the full palate of flavors. It is very quaffable. Will update the next day if my wife and I dont' finish it off. Next day. More fruit forward and more fruit in the finish. The herb garrigue notes are not as evident the 2nd day. Overall interesting wine. I'm tempted to get another couple bottles for holding a couple years.

What a surprise. Didn't expect this utterly enjoyable wine. Red berries and spicies (white pepper) kept in place by well defined yet soft tannins. Very good OPR!

Jungle Jim's Southern Rhone Tasting (Jungle Jim's, Fairfield, OH): 65% Grenache, 20 syrah, 5 Mourvedre, 10 Cinsault. Nice dark purple color. Dirty nose--mushrooms, horse dung, and olives past their prime. Slightly thin with little flavors up front, some mild leather, smoky, herbacious flavors show themselves and are highlighted with a little bit of zesty red fruit peeking in. Interesting finish from these flavors. Smooth and pretty well balanced.

traditional-styled Rhone, sweet fruit in the nose, initially some sulphur (blew off after a few minutes), medium body, more garrigue (duh!) and minerals than most Southern Rhones (65 Grenache, 20 Syrah, 10 Cinsault, 5 Mourvedre).

Used in a roast. Very pretty nose almost sweet. A good finish with some blackberries but was a little light for me.

A somewhat subdued rhonewine, I prefer them heavier than this one.
